I think ISIS now controls Tatooine. |

Yes it would have been better off if they had stayed under Imperial control. |

Sweet! For some reason, that first pic makes me think of Rogue Trader. |

Funky snowtroopers, though the one on the left looks like he's wearing striped knee high stockings. |

okay..crap. These do not fill me with any confidence. I was on a high after watching the trailers. Now…this just does not fill me with confidence. I am sad. |

After being disappointed with Ep. I,II, and III, I just don't expect the magic of Ep. IV and V. After Ep. VI, it seems to have gone down hill, and the slope keeps getting steeper. |

It does look good! Maybe after the horror of episodes I, II and III and the mixed feelings of episode VI (c'mon, the whole ewok thing is lame), we'll get a rounded, entertaining movie. Gracias Armand! |

It was over around 1984…. never should have been 'reinvented', and 'reinventing' again will probably only be worse, if in different ways… esp. since Disney has control. I will watch first one, but if it is crap, that's it… |

I can already small the social/political agendas, too… Oh? What ones, specifically? I'm not trying to call you out or anything; I honestly can't tell what agendas might be discernible from the trailers and pics. |

Hey there Javelin. Sorry if that seems a bit harsh, and no offense taken. I have only seen the trailer and pictures,of course, and cannot site specific examples of ideological propaganda. However, there is something in the air that I cannot describe but comes across nonetheless: The fact that this is Disney is huge: I don't trust them at all. I suspect that the new movies will mirror the cultural trends of our time (naturally), and these trends seem to favor the inclusion of subtle or not-so-subtle social/political agendas within the mass media/entertainment. A story's social/political correctness seems as (or more) important these days as its artistic integrity. Most folks don't look past the loads of over-used CGI/explosions, but the grinding axe is just as bad for storytelling as a shoddy plot… The prequels diverged wildly from the original tone and intent of the original movies, Which gives Disney an open ticket to 'modify' StarWars again, this time in their own image. I could be wrong, but for now I am very skeptical… StarWars will be consumed and make loads of money and social impact whatever Disney does (another open ticket to 'shape culture'…) Bringing back the 'old characters' is one way to 'maintain continuity' while radically altering other things ("…see, it has Han, it's good-ol' StarWars!")… I am also leary of continuing to beat a dead horse in any case, but that's another story. …And I won't mention J.J.Abrams… Not to sound like a doom-sayer, but I think a large grain of salt may save many people from disappointments similar to those experienced after Lucas re-invented the IP with his 'prequels'….. |
