Has anyone played these rule and utilised an Ottoman army, if so how does one reflect the irregular troop types?

I haven't played the Ottoman's, but in MA you have a pretty interesting system to play with for irregular troop types – the skirmish combat system. If the irregulars are really just a mass of untrained bodies, then go ahead and make them a large number of really low CV troops – they can take up a lot of space, but won't last more than a turn or two. On the other hand, if they are more loose order fighters, then play around with the skirmish system. You could either not represent some troops at all on the table and use them to give other formations a skirmish rating boost, or represent a core of troops by more sturdy on-table units with a very high skirmish rating, representing a rally base with the rest of the men "out there" skirmishing. I often treat Austrian Grenzers, and sometimes even Jaegers, in this way.

Cheers,

Christopher
