Hello

I bought a fabulous new book, about the archaeological detritus left by Napoleon's Grand Armée as it melted away in the vastness of Russia, at Salute 2015:

The Great Retreat by Alexander Korolev lives up to its own hype, in my view, as it certainly is 'a momentous contribution to our understanding of the human cost of Napoleon's calamitous Russian adventure.'

I've posted reviews at my blog:

and Amazon UK:

For a book filled with, mostly, pictures of antique buttons, The Great Retreat is remarkable fascinating!

I hope my musings on this superb book may be useful or interesting to those who like this sort of thing? Comments here and on my blog welcomed.

Cheers

Sebastian
