Just found this on Netflix. Only watched first one. Overall very good. Even the wife watched it. Here is the link to the BBC website. link Not sure about the filming at first but ended up liking it. Great job telling the battle of Mons from a first hand view. |

I watched it last week on Youtube. Great stuff! Too bad it's only three episodes. |

I saw the Mon's episode and part of the Somme. Very much enjoyed it. The Battle of the Mons was very well done. You really get a better view of the battle than you do from "the guns of August. ". Looking forward to the Tank episode. I have also been enjoying Peaky blinders on Netflix, this series reminds me of what might be a prequel. I wonder if those Peaky guys were a Birmingham pals unit. Another interesting program on Netflix was "world war one from above. " This is based on films taken from the air immediately after the war to see all the trenches and city damage. |

The "Peaky Blinders" were a Birmingham street gang (much like Butcher Bill and the gangs of New York). The name comes from their habit of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their flat caps and using them as slashing weapons, the outcome of which is in the name. |
