So mine is scale, i like to feel my ships are big. In star trek its a none issue, fighters are not used alot. So its just important that the bird of prey is quite small next to my galaxy class. But universes with fighters it becomes a problem. Given most sci fi fighters are about the size if modren fighter jets, they will be tiny Next to capitals. I see the fighters in star wars armada are huge. And i get they would be tiny in that scale. But i would honestly prefer fighter squarons to just be tiny dots next to the capitals. I know that tiny dot is a fighter the size of a F15, that gives me scale that the star destroyer is the size a city. But i know people want to see their x wings, vipers and 303s ect. |

I soo feel you pain. I am exactly the same. I try to get fighters that fit scale wise. It drives me mad too. I have found the smallest fighters out there are the old Battle fleet Gothic ones. I class my ships as being about 1/2500 scale so my BFG fighters fit in ok. I have a load of really old Brigade miniatures Tie fighters from back when Brigade first started. They are tiny and look just right as I scale all my ships in with 7 Micro machines Rebel Blockade runners I have repainted. Any ships I buy have to look right and fit with them. Yes its my pet peev too. |

I tend to use counters to represent formations of Fighters. Most of the GZG ships and fighters are to scale. |

I'm thinking the real problem with the Star Wars universe is that the Capitol ships are way way way bigger than they need to be which throws off the scale of fighters. Lukas was not one to worry about scale as we all know Bigger is Badder! |

Wow, where did you get a pive these days? my pet peeve is that I can never find a pive :) That aside, that is a problem. it's really a matter of what loks right, and in most cases, you have three basic scales at present – Fleet ( The smallest minis ), Squadron ( GZG and suchlike ) and Spectacle ( Spartan's Firestorm:Armada or BFG ). |

I want to play star wars, but again fighters would be microscopic. I also do firestorm armada, granted firestorm armada capitals are "only " about 2km long so at at least fighters would be visible. But tiny. |

Scale is a hard one, even within the range of Capital Ships for Star Wars. Executor (the SSD) was supposed to be 11 times the length of a standard ISD. At that relative size, about the only way it would work for 'normal' play is if it didn't move at all. Probably cost about $250 USD to buy it, too. The stats also present a problem… if it has similar geometry to the standard ISD, it's going to have 11^3 the volume… 1331 x the ISD.
Call it flatter and less comparatively bulky, so we cut that in half… You get a SSD… where to find an opponent with 600-ish ISDs to fight it? |
Gunfreak | 05 May 2015 8:29 a.m. PST |
You dont need 600 ISDs, only 1 stray fighter when shields are down |

Yeah, I tend to forget that no advanced civilization seems to remember how to manufacture or use circuit-breakers / surge-suppressors. |
