Got a hankering to do a 6mm (maybe 10mm) fantasy army. What rules are people currently using these days – looking for BIG battles. |

Looking for something a little less old school (HotT was the reason I did Mighty Empires). Suppose I am kinda looking for Warmaster but… not. You know what it is like finding a rules set you like :) |

TMP link Rally Round the King works well as will many others on the list. |

An author's recommendation, but I wanted to mention "Bear Yourselves Valiantly" which was just published last year. It has been very well received in playtesting and at the games we have run at cons. The website can be seen here: link And a battle report can be seen here for a big 12 player game we did at Cold Wars this past winter: link

You obviously want something other than HotT. I tried Mighty Armies but found that while I liked the slightly greater complexity it really added nothing to my gaming experience. Mighty Armies is a nice rules set. The DBx family of rules really has what I like. I feel they boil down all the fanciful justifications and mechanics of other rules to what I need to play (Mighty Armies magic rules left me cold). What is it about Might Armies that no longer satisfies? Perhaps that would be the key to an informed recommendation. Without more information I would recommend Warmaster. |

I sill like and play Warmaster. I know it's GW, but it's my favorite 10mm. Regards, Mike |

Check out Mayhem. It's definitely not old school and also has the Armies of Mayhem BattleScribe files to help you with building your armies if you're having trouble doing it yourself. |

Anything "non-skirmish" might work. |

Thanks for the suggestions, guys, will be checking them out! Allen57: Mighty Armies is all well and good – but, umm, I was the one that kinda wrote it and playing my own game seems too much like work! That said, I understand Rebel Minis have done a fair bit of work on it, so might swing by and check it out again. Got a feeling I will be drawn towards Warmaster, but want to see what else is out there :) |

Warmaster hands down. Plus it is free with plenty of online support. :-) |

Another vote for Warmaster. There's still a decent sized group locally (New England). I also put this together: wm-selector.appspot.com |

Warmaster is an obvious choice, but I second Mayhem. |
