Does anyone have information on the current Polish armies mechanized forces organization. I can find information on numbers and types of vehicles but I was wanting a current Battalion and Brigade type list for a hypothetical game of cold war commander. Any links or information would be greatly appreciated, thanks. |

As far as I am aware all of the Polish Leopard 2's are located in the 11th armored cavalry division in the 1st tank battalion and the 24th uhlans in the 10th armored cav brigade. This unit is the direct descendant of the 10th motorized brigade that severed throughout world war 2. Majority of other tank battalions are the PT-91 Twardy. The 16th mech division's armor are up armored T-72's. Wheeled battalions use the Rosamark APC and the armored mech inf use BMP-1's. |

Does the Polish forces follow NATO standards for TO&E or do they still use the Soviet model? |

They definitely follow the NATO TO&E format. Here is some info on the tank platoons and battalions. Typical Polish PT-91 tank battalion equipped with 53 tanks is built of 4 frontline companies – 13 vehicles in each + 1 tank for battalion commander. Every company of 13 tanks is built of three platoons – 4 tanks in each + 1 tank for company commander. They are a brigade heavy formation with only 3 divisions existing as higher commands only. As to whether or not they are as adaptable as say a U.S. Or British armored force which allows for cross transfer of battalion combat teams I am unsure. I would go out on a limb and say no to that. They do have a pretty significant armored force though with over 1000 tanks and recent purchase of more Leopard 2a5's. My guess is the non Twardy T-72 battalions will be switching over sooner than later. |

Not a problem. Being of Polish descent they are one of the main modern micro armor forces I have built. I did a lot of research Nd even reached out to some family that I still have over there by Lodź. |

Yes, thanks for the reply. Whether they still followed the Soviet model or have gone to a NATO type model was what I was really after. |
