A name change was required, since there's an RPG supplement already titled StarStrike.

The new title is "Clash on the Fringe" and with all text complete, I am hoping to get it released within the next 2-3 days.

As usual, Armies Army and Angel Barracks kindly provided photos for the interior illustrations.

Got old 40K, Laserburn or other scifi figures sitting, waiting for a chance on the table? Maybe you should dust some of them off.

Like the sounds of this one and the title works great… :)

I hope so :-)

The font on the cover actually changed from what I posted above.
I think people will know why, when they see it :)

Okay, Weasel, sell me on this one! I've got a lot of 40k that I'm finally getting around to painting, along with other manufacturer's stuff that fits the theme.

Build your own units.

Weapons feel high-tech without being instant death (most weapons cause an area of effect f.x.)

Reaction fire is present but not over-powerful.

13 or 14 different alien races, drawn from various scifi archetypes (if you want your 40K eldar to battle Mass Effect Turians and the Strogg from quake 4, you totally can)

A decent handful of human troop types.

Rules for animals, ice worlds and other space adventure stuff.

Psionics.

Leaders that actually do stuff other than give you +1 morale.

Points system and campaign bits if you want those things.
No compulsions on either part.

Short stat-line (5 stats total) (Yes! It has stats! I know right? Some people were starting to wonder what I have against stats)

And a 4 step D100 table for coming up with keywords for a quick scenario.
I just rolled and got:
A Starship crew and some Nomads are fighting.
The objective is to capture a a box of loot and the battle takes place in an overgrown ruin.
Unknown to either side, a local predator is prowling the ruins.

(Keywords: Starship crew, nomads, box of loot, overgrown ruin, predator)

That do it?

Sounds intriguing

So this is not a FiveCore game? Or am I confused and misinformed?

(Actually, the stat-less, roll fire and suppression mechanic still intrigues me. If I want to do a 40k warband roll-my-own game, which others of your rules would I use?)

This is a completely original system.
A bit more conventional with some clever twists. I'll post a blow-by-blow tonight if all goes well.

How many dudes do you want on the table?

Looking forward to picking it up.

BaldLea04 May 2015 1:31 p.m. PST

Really looking forward to this. I think it will fill a niche that's long been missing from the hobby.
