A new store has opened in Loughborough, Leicestershire, UK.

Find my general musing and waffling about it (including links etc) here:

I think stores should charge a rental fee for tables. That fee could then be redeemed against instore purchases. Stops the guys who abuse the facilities then make all their purchases from an internet discount store that doesn't carry the same overheads.

A fee isn't a bad idea, and JezEger's idea is pretty good. But in the age of the credit card, that system would have to avoid putting two charges on a card in a 24-hour period. Some banks won't allow it.

Good luck to the store, great to have such a resource close to home – worth ploughing some cash in there to keep something so precious afloat.

It may be miles away from me and almost certain I'll never visit but I hope it gets plenty of business and is a roaring success.

Charging for table hire is essential and most gaming shops do it already.

There is a significant proportion of the people who will use the tables who hardly ever buy anything.

The other essential is sweets and drinks!

Rebelyell – I don't think the two charges in 24 hours is widespread in Britain. I've never heard of a card with that restriction….

Best of luck to the shop. I used to be in retailing and know the overheads can be very hard to cover for a small, niche business!
