Great pictures of a great club in action.

Those are beautiful models and a great looking game. Can I ask what is the scale and manufacturer?

It looks like a verion of Wooden Ships & Iron Men. Can't gauge the scale though.

The ships look big, like around 1/500 or 1/300. Indeed, who is the manufacturer? They might be Skytrex 1/700 though.

Wonderful looking!

Opening credits say ruleset is Close Action by Mark Campbell. I would describe them as Wooden Ships and Iron Men on steroids. Similar system but more detail.

Indeed Close Action rules from Marc Campbell

The scale of the ships is 1/500 – 1/600

The make is Heller for the most part. The "Le Superbe" from their Cadet range. all 1/500
Only 2 Airfixes in the bunch, one Victory and one Shannon.

We are preparing for next year's game. Looking for 30+ players 😀

Hi,

A short overview :

We used colored dice (different colors), but didn't use assigned seating, we did control noise (more or less), we had almost one ship per player (22 players for 25 ships), Charts and forms were readily available, training sessions were organised before the event reaching almost all players, etc ..

Next year March 19-20, we plan to :
•Further automate movement
•Consider 2 impulses instead of 4, we DO like the impulse system as it creates real enjoyment, players firing too soon or too late, real good fun
•Fully automate fire and maintenance, so no dice but random number generation with automatic updated results on ship logs and Hull /Riggin checks, critical hits checks,e tc ..
•Only allow players to roll for collisions during movement and morale checks at the end of the turn

We are considering a similar or slightly larger battle. Not sure yet. On the list are Cuddalore, Providien, Fort Royale, Masachusetts or Finisterre.

We managed to get 1 American, 3 Brits, 1 Dutch and 17 Belgians in the game. Next year we do hope to do better.

We had 2 game masters and are aiming for 3 next year
