I see a lot of discussion of authors past and present on these pages; as it should be. On the other hand, writers of the future are conspicuous by their absence. I would like to remedy this serious omission, beginning with one of the most well-known authors of futurity.

HRH Irulan Corrino (c. 10,175 – ? AG) was reckoned among the first rank of authors of her day. * For much of of the Matter of Arrakis, she is the sole extant primary source. Small wonder, then , that for his posthistorical novel, Dune, author Frank Herbert cited her work so extensively. While scholars decry her writings as anything but objective, Herbert was writing a work of fiction, and so made ample use of her colorful (if occasionally prolix) accounts.

Below is a list (not comprehensive) of her most well-known works:

  • Analysis: The Arrakeen Crisis
  • Arrakis Awakening
  • A Child's History of Muad'dib
  • Collected Legends of Arrakis
  • Collected Sayings of Muad'dib**
  • Count Fenring: A Profile
  • Dictionary of Muad'dib
  • The Humanity of Muad'dib
  • In My Father's House
  • Manual of Muad'dib
  • Muad'dib, Conversations***
  • Muad'dib, Family Commentaries
  • Muad'dib, the Man
  • Muad'dib: The Ninety-Nine Wonders of the Universe
  • Muad'dib: The Religious Issues
  • Private Reflections on Muad'dib
  • Songs of Muad'dib
  • The Wisdom of Muad'dib

* Temporal guild style guidelines prefer the use of past tense, regardless of whether or not the events in question have yet occurred.

** A later edition, The Sayings of Muad'dib contains much previously unpublished material, but removes many sayings of dubious attribution. Herbert has quoted freely from both editions.

*** An alternative translation, Conversations With Muad'dib, while more accessible to the general reader not fluent in Galach, alters the sense of numerous passages, and is not free of omissions. Once again, Herbert has made liberal use of both sources.

You mean the blatant ripoff of Anna Comnena?

I thought her "Fifty Shades of Yueh" was particularly well crafted

Fifty shades were not enough for Yueh.

She writes a book, I buys it.

If she asked me nice, I would probably give her my car keys.

You mean the blatant ripoff of Anna Comnena?

Comnena? never even met her.

No thanks. She comes across like some crazy obsessed stalker of that Paul guy. Bet her secret lair has walls covered three deep with his photos…
