Classic Ral Partha minis coming back with a kickstarter. These were some of my favorites of the classic Partha lines.

Some great figures there!

nah, true 25mm is measured to the eyes to allow for headgear.

great stuff though.

On the other hand you've been beaten to it.

Great now I am just derivative :-(

It's OK, I just wanted to make sure the word got out!

I have always loved these orcs and goblins as the best, nastiest, slinking, stinking orcses ever. GLAD to see them coming back!

David Johansen03 May 2015 11:46 a.m. PST

They don't need no pants or loin cloths or nothing. Balls to the wallz as they say.

I asked about the future for dwarf/etc., races and received a reply:

Hi Glenn,

First off, we have not finalized the plans for these 100%, so this is all subject to change, but I can tell you what my intention for them is:

There will be two sets of Dwarves available.
1) Under the Forces of Light: 50-100 Dwarves will be the classic Tom Meier Dwarves from the Fantasy Collector Series, including the 5 matching pieces that were added in the mid 1980's, and a couple character pieces from the 01 line.
2) Under the Neutral Forces: 52-900 Imperial Dwarves will be Bob Olley's Dwarves from the 02 Fantasy Armies line, bolstered with some dwarf pieces from the Fantasy Adventurer Line, later 01 line, and some of the boxed sets.

The background to the advanced Chaos Wars rules will explain the differences, but we are happy to be making both available.

The fate of the WWW line figures for all races remains to be determined. There are some really nice poses and designs there, but they really don't fit anything else Tom did past 1978… in fact, they're a little big. But don't worry, we are kicking around a few ideas. But we'll need to get thru several releases of Chaos Wars before we know what the best place for the WWW's is.

The Halflings will have a more limited set of figured to start with. the Fantasy Collector Series figures will be included. Plus the ones form the '3 stage characters', and some other pieces like the great Dennis Mize sculpt of one in Gladiatorial Armor.
I will definitely be pushing for some more new sculpts, and possibly some conversions as well. Only time will tell if this happens.

With the Gnomes, IMO we've got two possible routes to take…
1) Use the character figures from Julie's 02-9 line, and have new infantry sculpted
2) Use the character figures from Julie's 02-9 line, and use the Cavern's Deep Dwarves as 'Gnome Militia'… they are actually slighter than Tom's 02 Dwarves, so they look similar to Dwarves, but clearly proportioned differently from the Dwarves. They really do look great once painted up. This would most likely have new sculpts added, once possible.

Curious to hear your thoughts and reactions.

Thanks,
Jacob F

Looking forward to more Gnomes… Bought enough for an army, from another vendor, years ago, but I'd like to augment their army with new figures, new poses, etc. Cheers!

The 02 dwarves are taller than some of the CS humans :D

Ah scale creep. One suggestion I heard and found interesting is to use 3d scanning and printing to unify the ranges in 28mm. It'd up the cost substantially but I'd be more likely to buy in. I suppose you could do that and go vinyl in one fell swoop, but I hope that day never comes, the loss of detail on these figures would be a tragedy.

I'll probably buy in a little bit but probably not over $100. USD Gotta feed the addiction right?

I don't mind the slight size differences as it is fantasy and I can rationalize the sizes :)

Mute Bystander13 Jul 2015 3:09 p.m. PST

Yes… but I still like my Dwarves, gnomes, halflings, and even elves smaller than men.

I have few humans in my games. If I went with a human nation I suppose I would need 30 or mm tall figures to please my eyes.

Say 30 mm humans, 25 mm Elves, 20 mm Dwarfs, 15 mm gnomes, and 10 mm halflings… Not that I have those exact sizes…

Hope Iron Wind bring back the All American line. Some really nice miniatures in that line:)

It's just awesome seeing the Ral Partha range being brought back to life, really exciting.

Those orcs were some of the very first miniatures that I owned, my gosh back in the mid-80s!

Tom Meier = genius.

Scale? One man's big 25mm orc is another mans small 32mm orc. Who cares wink

And not all elves have to be six foot six. At least they aren't carrying scimitars…
