Cannot access THW forums right now, post there later.

Hopefully this is relatively clear.

Okay, the rate (2, 4, 6; small, medium, large,) of the ship determines how close [2"/4"/6"] to Coasts, Breakwaters, and Islands (Beaches allow landing) without grounding but is there a distance with Isthmus terrain features where a ship would ground? It is not specifically stated upon first reading through.

If, IF, these buffers apply to Isthmus terrain –

Given a standard 3' x 6' table –

Isthmus minimum widths (can be larger if defender desires) on a 1D6:

1 = 24" all ships pass through with 12"/16"/20" minus base size open water width for large/medium/small ships to maneuver with no danger of running aground?

2 = 21" all ships possible pass through but slightly restricted maneuvering in practice for large ships? (21" – 6" on each side means about 9" minus base size open water width to maneuver with no danger of running aground?) That would be 13" minus base size for Medium and 17" minus base size for small

3 = 18" all ships possible pass through but restricted maneuvering in practice for large (possibly medium) ships? (18" – 6"/4"/2" on each side means about 6"/10"/14" minus base size for large/medium/small ships open water width to maneuver with no danger of running aground?)

4 = 15" – large ships only can pass through mid stream and only in a close approximation of a single or double file – 3" wide lane – (base size matters?) file? Maneuver space would be 3"/7"/11" minus base size for large/Medium/small ships?

5 = 09" – medium/small ships only can pass through mid stream and only in a close approximation of a single or double file (base size matters?) file? Only 1" minus base size to maneuver for Medium ships/5" for small ships?

6 = 03" wide – no ships can pass through?

Hope I did the mental math right.
