Secret weapon washes are great – I just have one little problem ….

I can usually resist buying random figures I see (although I do NOT want to talk about the state of my lead mountain right now), but paints are another matter

I bought parchment wash and golden brown wash (the one with metallic particles in it), and I have no idea how to use them

The parchment I find neither here nor there, too dark for white, weird colour for others (I think it is Rowney Dalery FW flesh according to the Les' wash page)

The golden brown – the colour is nice but sparkly ? It's not dark enough to use as an armour wash. Have no idea what to do with it

Thanks

John

The parchment wash might be useful over white, to simulate aged paper. I looked it up on their website, and as it is displayed as a tan color, I would consider using it to shade khaki, or even bone colors.

The golden brown-- As you mention that it has metallic flakes in it, I might try that to shade items that already have a coat of metallic gold paint. Not necessarily as armor wash, unless that armor was already brass, bronze, or a golden color. (By armor, I am not speaking of "heavy armor tanks" or vehicles.)

From my own experience with Secret Weapon washes, shake them up considerably before using them. They have a tendency to settle to the bottom of the bottle. There are several colors that I really like using on my own stuff. Blue Black, Ruby, and Concrete are among the ones I find useful on my figures.

Where can one acquire Secret Weapon washes?

@dBerczerk

One of my local hobby shops stocks them, hence my frequent temptations

Online retailers, such as the warstore also have them

The one called "armor wash" is a greasy black brown that I find works really really well for chainmail, plate mail etc.

As Ironwulf says – they need shaking. I put a couple of glass beads in- shake until you hear the rattle, then shake a little more (that sounds like a line from a song)
