I usually get only todays & yesterdays new topics in my zones of interest on my home page.

If a topic older than that still gets posts I would not be made aware of them unless, I suppose, I was to go to the message board concerned.

So how about if a reply bumped the topic up to the reply date, unless I am missing a setting somewhere?

If you go into the boards any post bumps them up to the top.

I can imagine it might be quite difficult to manage the front page if old posts jumped up and potentially shuffled more recent posts off the front.

You can order the posts on individual boards by posting date or updated date.

You can't do this on the front page, but it is an oft requested feature (by me) for TMP 4. Stretching the front page to 400 posts helps. A bit.

phpBB based boards have this sort of functionality by default.
