This could be great, better than the Warlord set.

Nice, so are they perrys going to do a zulu range? I ask as the firing figure would also be suitable for their early sudan war range

sausagesca28 Apr 2015 1:57 p.m. PST

Can one assume that they will do a Zulu warrior set as well, or would that be redundant given the Warlord set?

XRaysVision29 Apr 2015 7:38 a.m. PST

Zulus, sir. Thousands of 'em!

I have Warlord and Wargames Factory British and Zulus. They mix quite well but are not exactly the same style of sculpting. The difference provides beneficial variation in the ranks.

I look forward to the Perry's and will mix them with the other two manufacturer's to get even more variety.

I'm looking forward to the plastic Sudan/Afghan version more than Zulu era ones myself. I'd also expect that's the main project they're working on, since it make sense in terms of their existing metal Sudan range and will make a good sibling kit to the plastic Anasars.

I suspect the Zulu figure is more of a proof-of-concept they did while working on the 1880's models, since the core uniform and weapon is basically the same in both periods. A bit of mix-and-match could also be good with plastics, since older kit was often still in use.

It's probably too much to hope that they could fit in some spare Lee-Metfords to extend the figures into 1890's use… :)

(But I guess you could always convert using WW2 SMLEs from Warlord)

Are these still in the works?

I believe the plastic Zulu War Brits are still in the pipeline. As you may know, the box of Second Afghan War/Sudan British Infantry has been available for some time.

Hi MG – yes, I have those. I was just surprised we haven't heard anything of them as they were previewed at the same time.

Would be nice to have a set with a Lee Metford/Lee Enfield rifles option and an home service helmet option

Perrys just released their ACW Union infantry, so these should be the next ones in the plastic queue. I presume they might see the daylight latest by next Salute.

Yes very please to see these and hopefully they will fit the later British infantry already released.

Sadly no Lee Metford or Lee Enfield yet
