Looking for a good book or two covering Nappie's campaigns in Egypt, even the time period after he bailed (head ducking under desk). Prefer military perspective, and/or uniform and battle info as well. So perhaps I am really looking for an detailed military overview and a good gaming guide. Suggestions? |

Prefer military perspective, and/or uniform and battle info as well. There's always Johnson & Bell's small monograph on the Ottoman army from 1988: The Ottoman Empire and the Napoleonic Wars A guide for wargamersThis booklet covers the Ottoman Empire of the Napoleonic Wars. It is a study of the large armies that fought more major battles against European powers than Prussia and inflicted Napoleon's first defeat at Acre in 1799. I have a limited number of copies in stock. -- Martin Stephenson Vexillia: Wargames Miniatures & Accessories Shop | Rules | Twitter |

For a superbly written overview of the campaign I would recommend 'Napoleon in Egypt' by Paul Strathern. It is a general rather than strictly military study but I found it quite enthralling. |

Yep, I'll second (or rather third) the Paul Strathern 'Napoleon in Egypt' recommendation. I reviewed it on Amazon UK: link |

great review, there are truley – in case you need more good reads superb memoires about this campaign, especially in French, but in case there is a translation of Doguerreau's memoirs Guns in the Desert General Jean-Pierre Doguereaus's Journal of Napoleon's Egytian Expedition Translated by Rosemary Brindle not that cheap and much more expensive than the original French ones, but one might get them used, a very good read as well. Seems I must buy the book by Paut Strathern |
