:) Cool, I wasn't sure it was 15mm. That is an even more impressive force in 15mm. Are you pleased with the quality of those two companies? OG has always been hit or miss on quality (I like their T-55's and BTR-152's) |

Wow! That's a lot of 15mm armor. Can't wait to see them on the tabletop, in battle. Thanks for sharing your pics. Have you selected a set of rules, or three to try out for Cold War gaming? |

Lots of metal! Rather a lot of BRMs! Tally Ho! |

Rules: For starters I'm looking at the 5Core series from NordicWeasel. I'm a long time Command Decision player, but since I'm teaching the "History" as well as the rules I thought 5Core Brigade Commender might be easier. Using the "Late, Great, Unfought War" from CPQ 11 as the basis (Each NATO Corps is reduced to a Brigade, WARPAC Armies are reduced to Regiments). Using 5Core it works out that one campaign hex is one GeoHex so expect a crowded table. Don't expect tosse anything soon, still need to paint the Infantry, due to soccer season tying up all of May weekends. And I need to prep my Waterloo Weekend |

As a note, a few Command Decision and Spearhead players just push two stands together side by side to make one stand in Brigade Commander. Then use a single stand to represent the attachments. |

Wow, that's a lot of metal. I gamed CD/Combined Arms back in the 90s with a friend who since moved away, leaving me short lots of WP forces (I had T-62s and T-72s, he had T-64s, so no GSFG for me until I acquire the right tanks – which I plan to do, plus many more BTR-60PBs. But I do have a nice collection of Roskopf West Germans. I sure wish they'd make a PDF of Combined Arms available on Wargames Vault, my copy is yellow and dog eared. But like you, I'm now looking at 5Core Brigade Commander. My small group also included the author of FFT, and we playtested the first version of FFT, and I'm considering FFT3 too now. (Ty wasn't exactly a Command Decision fan). Many gamers didn't like the stepped losses of CD platoons, but that was one of my favorite parts. Anybody in DFW that is interested in Cold War gaming in 15mm, please let me know! Cary |

Bollix: You can get the Cold War stats off a link in the Test of Battle forums. Test of Battle being the updated (faster playing) version of Command Decision ( testofbattle.com ) |

Thanks Saber6. I played CDIV/Test of Battle for the first time a couple of months ago, and own a copy, but it did not appeal to me. I think the last couple of CD releases have been moves away from the kind of game I enjoy. I'm quite happy playing either CD1 or CD2, however. So Combined Arms was completely pleasing to me, as it fell in between. I respect the opinions of others that do like Test of Battle. I do plan on trying BC soon, however. Weasel, I'll be sure and ask when I have questions, I joined your forum yesterday for that reason. |
