… Pre-Order from Games Workshop.

Games Workshop is now taking pre-orders for a brand new stand-alone board game over in their webshop. Assassinorum: Execution Forces is a fully-cooperative game where players take on one of the Empire of Man's greatest assassins on a mission to kill off a powerful Chaos Lord before he completes a terrible ritual. The four Assassin minis in the box are exclusive to that product.

Assassinorium Executionum Skullium Overpricium…

Besides, the whole feel is rather 'bad guys vs. bad guys', which doesn't really work for me, or for stand-alone board-games at all, IMHO.

Could this be a sign of GWs slow demise as a producer of 'miniatures wargames' and slide toward more 'mainstream' marketing…?

$125.00 USD and the big take away is that you can use four of the miniatures in your games. They do have some of the best sculpts in the business, though. I do agree that Games Workshop has a lock on all known mines of overpricium. Imperial Assault is cheaper, has more figures…and prettier dice.

Not any more than Space Hulk, Dread Fleet, Horus Heresy or any of the other stand alone and/or board games have been.

Though it is a sign that they need money.

Its an expensive way to buy four new exclusive versions of existing models, packaged in with some existing models…..tacked onto a boardgame package.

Rumours of GW's demise (slow or otherwise) has been greatly exaggerated.

The day will come when it will happen.

I have more money (or at least willingness to spend it) than sense, so I ordered it. If anything, it's co-op so I can play it by myself if I can't convince anyone else to.

The "exploration" aspect of it looks intriguing and the assassin's look fun to paint. That said, it's about twice what it should be with those contents. The tax for playing games in the 41st millennium is getting high indeed.
