Hi, all, I'm putting together a game of FUTURE TANK (a Science Fiction version of Jim Wallman's TANK DUEL) for game camp this Summer and I would like to have a couple of SF style anti-tank teams to be out on the tabletop to cause havoc. Any suggestions? I don't want to use either WF or GW figures-- I was looking for something more retro.. preferably with the old fashioned kind of retro "bubble helmets" you used to see in pulp Science Fiction. Thanks in advance for you suggestions. V/R Walt O'Hara |

Walt, perhaps you'll find something amongst these that will fit the bill: link
link link link link link link link link link The Blue Moon/Old Glory 25/28mm sci fi troopers have a variety of helmets to choose from, and I suspect that one of the styles will give you what you're looking for if the poses in the set work for your purposes:
If they don't work, I have hopefully given you enough other leads to find something that will suit your needs.

Can't recall any bubble helmet anti-tank teams right now. That kind of retro bring to mind the Cobalt line available from Black Hat: link The Cobalt mercs have a missile launcher thingy that is hefty enough to look the part and you'll get an extra chap with it to build up a two-man weapon team too. Unfortunately they don't have pix of the command teams so you'll need to ask which set contains the launcher. It's pictured here: TMP link In a different retro scifi style, namely that of "space Nazis", there are the Dust support weapon teams, particularly the Axis Heavy Antitank Grenadiers. link |

Or I you are willing to go to 25mm, the Denizen range has some figures that might work for you (though no bubble helmets, that I remember). The Federation Manta Missile Launcher Crew is pretty good, pack SF38. Site is at denizenminiatures.co.uk And then there's GZG… Rob |

I was trying to avoid the Big Shoulderpad look (which is why I like Cobalt so much). However, I do love some of these selections. I'll check them out. |

Pig Iron does some fantastic two-man heavy weapon teams. Heavy laser dismounted:

Those Denizen troops are nice looking figs. The old Spacelords range has some really big guys, with big, heavy, over the shoulder rocket launchers too. I think they're labeled as Bunker Busters. Either would work fine. |

For the ratio of price to quality, you really can't beat Denizen. They aren't Bubbles, but the "Ventauran" and "Federal" troops have somewhat classic looking helmets. You can see the Ventauran figs here: link The Federation troopers (different armor than the Fed Grav bikes pictured above) are just as well done. If bubble helmets are a must then I can recommend the "Cobalt" figures. I owned a few for a while and they were very nice figs. I sold them on only because I had so many other nice figs waiting for me. If you're willing to venture away from retro, then Pig Iron is a really solid choice and there are quite a number of head options you can buy to switch with the supplied heads, some of which might even be a bit retro-ish. EDIT one more suggestion. I agree with the Bunker Breaker suggestion. EM4 has a bunch of other factions that aren't listed on the website. The "SardayKin Legionnaires" in particular have some half-bubble'ish helmets, but I don't know if they are back in production. You can email EM4 to find out. |

Here's another vote for Pig Iron Productions but this time the missile team pig-iron-productions.com/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=26 I got a set of these a few years ago and they're rather good. They also have separate arms which need to be glued on (the chap selling them did warn me to be careful about the angle you stuck the arms on at as you can make it look like they're skipping along on their way to a picnic if you make the angle too high) |

I ended up ordering the laser team and the missile team from Pig Iron, as they were very close to what I had in mind. Thanks for the suggestions, I really liked all of them. Walt |
