Okay, I hope this doesn't sound stupid but I am really having a hard time deciding how to handle my Cold War HQ stand for my 3mm troops. As I use my troops for a couple different levels… I've started playing 5Core Brigade Commander and then a homegrown set of rules where the basic unit is the battalion.

I feel like my HQ should be fairly generic… So a command stand should be a divisional commander in one game but perhaps a battalion commander in the next game. How do you handle command stands that you may use across multiple scales?

I use the old ACW command stand trick. The number of vehicles on the stand denotes the command level, ie one for company, two for battalion, etc. 3mm is small enough and the minis cheap enough that making up stands is no big burden.

Assuming the same scale of miniatures, you can probably just use the same stand.

Grab some jeeps, a few leftover infantry figures or trucks and go for it.

Maybe stick little radio antennas on them

Weasel, that was what I was thinking… Probably a Jeep (or equivalent) and a truck, with a few staff

I just say "this is an X, and this is a Y" and have a few different looking stands. I also started using flags that I move along with the stands. I decided I like the flags bit and will be using that more and more.

Command posts usually have lots of antennas, so you could consider scratchbuilding something like an OE-254 out of speak wire to put on the stand. Add more for higher command levels, if necessary.
