Hi

I have put together a short description and photo guide of how we put together our portable sandtable for our Plancenoit game at Triples next month. It's not as hard or heavy as it sounds.

What sort of sand did you use, looks like it's got little stones in it, which is good. Anyway, looks smart. I'll have a look at Sheffield.

The table looks great. But how do you clean it up when you're finished playing?

Did a portable sandtable about 30-35 years ago for
East Coast cons here in the US.

After being chastised by several con organizers, gave
it up.

They were concerned about the sand leaking and causing
issues with the venues where the events were held.

It didn't leak since we used heavy gauge plastic
sheeting to contain the sand, but no explanation served
to assuage their concerns.

I did see, at the 2005 Historicon, a sand-table in use
that was fairly small (4' x 6', IIRC) but did the job
and was portable.

The photo's on your blog look superb – well done and wish
you much success at the show !

I'd love a sand table….if you dont mind me asking how big is that one, and how much sand in a bag?

Ed, how I remember the sand table at the old Armory on Johnson Street. whatever happened to that thing? if it could only tell stories! :-)
