Try some – you will love them. And some history about this traditional biscuit from the NZ Army Museum. link

Might be good, will try to make some. Can those of "up-over" use honey instead of Golden Syrup? |

Bob, you should be able to. I'm going to give these a go when I get a chance. They had some at Big Lots about five years ago and bought a package. While not homemade, they were very tasty and sound like a good addition to the cookie recipe file. |

I am not sure what the alternative to Golden Syrup would be. Molasses may be a bit dark. Some googling and I found this
If you really want to substitute, combine light corn syrup and molasses in a 2 to 1 ratio Probably easier to check the British section of some local supermarkets with a good 'international' section. I understand that a UK brand called Lyle's is sold in a lot of places in the USA. GOlden Syrup has a rich almost toasted flavour and you are probably best off to find the real thing. |

An Australian who works at the same place as me made some of these at home last week. She brought them in for us all to try. Very nice! |

Two trips to NZ taught me there is no better way to start a day but with a cup of strong coffee and an ANZAC biscuit or two. We made a batch yesterday and they turned out great. Golden syrup can be found in Safeway stores, at least our local store has it. |

My long standing ANZAC day tradition is to cook up a batch of Anzac biscuits while watching the march on TV. |
