Do I have this right? For BKCII Users: --- Rockets ----------------- If Forward Artillery Observers are available. Deviation = 3D6 x 2 = 6D6 And If scheduled (pre-planned). Deviation = 3D6 not doubled. -------------------- Nobody answered this inquiry on the BKCII Forum. It's a tough one. And the author sold the system so he is gone. That's okay. Everybody needs to move on. ----- Respectfully, Bill P. |

That is a difficult question. In the rules it states rockets double the dice used when rolling for deviation, but, since in theory you do not roll for deviation on scheduled strikes, in my opinion this would also apply to rockets. But then again, it sounds more logical to do a deviation roll owing to their inaccuracy. Guess I am not much help! |

Greetings Called by FAO – double deviation per lists (so D6 per 20cm from observer x2) Scheduled or at registered target point – 3d6 deviation (errata for p26) Regards Edward |

Hi all, A related question, specifically about Katyusha rockets with trucks: These are described in the army lists as
Artillery unit (Katyusha, truck) … move 20 not Artillery support unit (Katyusha, truck), and page 26 says
Artillery support units … are on-table equivalents of the majority of off-table artillery units, with the exception of rockets… Artillery support units act in the exact same way as infantry guns (see infantry guns on page 24). This classification and exception would suggest that Katyushas are always off-table. But then, why are you paying more points for the movement of 20?? If they are on-table, as seems sensible, but don't have the infantry gun Direct Fire and Indirect Fire commanded by a CO or HQ, how do they fire? It doesn't make sense to have an on-table unit use Scheduled Fire. They can't be Requested Fire because the early and mid-war Russian lists don't have FAOs. Do they just need to eyeball targets directly like tanks, but with deviation applied? It seems they were tacked on to rules that didn't have them in mind. Thanks. |

I've had another read, and I can only surmise that there is an error. It seems established that there can be no on-table rockets. The movement of 20 for off-table artillery support would add +1 for the "Requesting Artillery Support" table, with
all requested artillery units are self-propelled (i.e. they have a move value in the army lists) and thus the 20 isn't a literal movement. However, there are no FAO in the early- and mid-war lists, meaning no requested artillery support, meaning no use for movement in the profile. Thus, I think the addition of "Artillery unit (Katyusha, truck)" on these lists is simply an error which has not made it to the errata. |

Russian Scouts have the ability to request artillery. See note #1 for Mid Eastern Front list. This same rule should also be applied to the scouts in the Early Eastern Front list as it appears to have been missed when the second edition was written. BKCI had FAO's and scouts did not have ability to request artillery in the first version. |

Williamb! One thousand thanks! You are a star! My error for not reading the whole manual. |
