So does anyone think that GW might re-release Gorkamorka with Mad Max coming out? It seems like it would be the perfect thing to put out there with people being all in the mood to see beat up, wobbly, thrown together vehicles racing each other and getting blown up. And actually if you combined it with some of those Chaos Cultists they released in the Dark Vengeance set that you can find cheap in bargain bins you'd actually have a pretty decent go at a Mad Max game with a few other 40K odds and ends. |

Unfortunately I think GW is pretty much done releasing anything new and interesting. I'd love to be proven wrong, though-- all the old Specialist Games stuff comprise much of my "Favorite Games" list. We're going to play Battlefleet Gothic next week on Game Night, as a matter of fact. |

I agree, no chance; definitely doesn't seem to fit in with their current business or plans. -Will |

Not to mention, people who want to play Mad Max-style games with kitbashed vehicles are not really the sort who need a GW title to make that happen. |
Pictors Studio | 24 Apr 2015 11:42 a.m. PST |
Well this way people that want to play Mad Max-style games with non-(or barely) kitbashed vehicles could play those games too. I don't know. They re-released Space Hulk and then re-released it again. It does seem to be unlikely. |

So does anyone think that GW might re-release Gorkamorka with Mad Max coming out? That would mean that GW is thinking about making money instead of finding new ways to screw over their customers. No Chance in Hell |

Space Hulk has a really strong legacy though (even outside the current GW community) and is also far more self-contained than Gorkamorka. So that release makes a lot more sense. -Will |

It does have a much stronger legacy. Gorkamorka was a pretty niche game, really good for Ork players, excellent for those looking to start an Ork army but only neat for others as it doesn't also cross over into their 40K army. Still it would be neat to see it re-released with Digga Nob plastics in the box. |
PatrickWR | 24 Apr 2015 1:38 p.m. PST |
My first 40k ork army was comprised entirely of Gorkamorka models I got on mega-clearance at my LGS. I shudder to think what they might be worth now… |

Dark Future would be the better choice! |

I tend to agree with Nazrat. I'm reading the 9th edition rumors and seeing the triumph of chaos in the real world. Others will fill the vacuum though. No shortage of post-apoc material out there. |

The title got me excited. I thought I missed something. I got my copy of Gorkamorka for free with my White Dwarf sub. This was back when the magazine was actually goo and worth the $50. USD Another year I got two goblin chariots for renewing my sub. You got your choice of one large box kit or two small kits. I liked Gorkamorka for the kitbashing potential but felt the game was too limited in scope. Not enough variety. Still kinda fun though now and then. |

Not gonna happen, but I would certainly play…. with two slight modifications: 1)Post-apoc 'Mad Max'/ 'Dark Future' setting, not '40k'/orks. 2)AND revise rules so that running is generally faster than driving… |
Pictors Studio | 24 Apr 2015 6:35 p.m. PST |
Wait, why would you want running to be faster than driving? |
billthecat | 24 Apr 2015 7:04 p.m. PST |
OOPS, REVERSE THAT……. heh heh… |
billthecat | 24 Apr 2015 7:06 p.m. PST |
In our old Gorka Morka games, we discovered that dismounting and running was generally a faster way to win a race than driving, given the probability of trukks blowing up, etc… 8" every turn with unlimited turns is pretty good…. Fun game. Lots of scratch building goodness. |
Pictors Studio | 24 Apr 2015 7:45 p.m. PST |
That is funny. I never actually played Gorkamorka, I was on a pretty limited budget when it came out and wasn't really into Orks that much. Still that seems like the kind of thing that would be overlooked in test playing, the fact that guys could run faster than trukks. |

what rules would fit the bill then? I rememeber gorkamorka and loved it….back in the day.. any new campaign style game with viechles and ground troops? |
Pictors Studio | 24 Apr 2015 9:13 p.m. PST |
Dropzone Commander might work pretty well. It would emphasize the movement of the vehicles over the movement of the infantry, which is almost nil. It is 10mm though. It isn't exactly campaign style but you could certainly work some campaign stuff into it or adapt any campaign system to it. |

I'd assume Mad Max enthusiasts would go something like Sulphur by Terragnosis or the opportunely up-and-coming The Devil's Run: Route 666 by Word Forge/Prodos instead of something with rather cartoonish orks. But obviously there's a certain of overlap of "I want to game MM" and "I only game GW miniature games" crowds. The main problem I had with GM mechanics was that the vehicles operated extremely randomly. In extremely rare cases, they could run from one end of the table to other and back, and in others (more often) they indeed lost the race to a guy with one club foot. That was amended in the Ash Wastes rules GW put out semiofficially for Necromunda but I never got around to playing those. |

Must dig out my Gorkamorka set…….got it in a close out sale with Digganobs thrown in for free, made and painted all the vehicles and scratch built a couple more to use up the spares on the GW spruces………never touched it after that! I have just introduced my 5 year old to the joys of 'Thunder Road'…….all educational-helps with his counting! link |

McBane: You could always try Nuclear Renaissance. link It's roughly the same as Gorkamorka, but it is free to see if there is any improvement. |
ordinarybass | 26 Apr 2015 4:54 p.m. PST |
Nuclear Renaissance is an excellent suggestion. Much more open and flexible than Gorkamorka, but its more than capable of covering gorkamorka or any other post apoc setting, with or without vehicles. The "Tome of Tridlins" expansion doesn't have quite the same level of Polish as the original ruleset, but it's definitely worth the $8 USD it costs for the PDF. Lots of great stuff in both books. |
billthecat | 27 Apr 2015 8:16 a.m. PST |
Wow! 'Nuclear Renaissance' is a slick, well written, complete game! Necromunda/Gorkamorka without the '40k'!!!! |
WaltOHara | 28 Apr 2015 7:21 a.m. PST |
I agree with Bill. I love the restrained goofiness of NR. this is MY kind of game. Walt |

Ah Gorka Morka, many a fun evening was spent with that game. We had a campaign go for over a year meeting weekly. It is still my favorite GW game. |
