Does anyone know what the platoon organization was for the British and Germans during W.W. I? I am looking for the TO&E plus support weapons (Lewis guns, light mortars, rifle grenades) from 1916 on. I looked at other postings on TMP, but didn't see any messages, sorry if a repeat. Thanks in advance. |

Welcome to a fascinating period and subject! Best source I have found is "Stout Hearts and Iron Troopers", A Scenario book for Too Fat Lardies WW1 rules, Through the Mud and the Blood. Outstanding Scenarios and good introduction to the tactics and organization of the period. You can order the PDF here: link Also, some more good reading: • Battle Tactics of the Western Front, Paddy Griffith (A must read) • Storm Troop Tactics: Innovation in the German Army 1914-18, Gudmundson • Raiding on the Western Front, Saunders |

What is the context for the information? How are you planning to use the details, as there was a lot of variation? Robert |

The the Too Fat Lardies reference is perfect, it is aimed squarely at what you are looking for, platoon level organizations and actions. I have not found anything as good online, and gave up and bought this, glad I did. |

Hello Tin Man, I have both Griffith and Gudmundson and can attest that Through the Mud and the Blood is well worth it. However, I have not played the latter, having purchased it primarily for its descriptions of organization and tactic. But can you elaborate on how much is there is about tactics in Stout Hearts and Iron Troopers? If it adds some significant data I would probably purchase it as well. Ryan |
