Very nice figure. Though if "her locks flying down her back betrayed that she was a woman", does that imply that her clothing didn't reveal that fact, and that therefore she wore breeches rather than tripping over a full-length skirt? |

Nice fig. In the series, she fights in breeches. Perhaps sculpting her in a skirt is CYA? |

Actually 'Breeches' (aka britches/trousers) is an attested by-name for a female in one saga or another. So, yes, a shield maiden in tunic and trousers IS possible – about the only thing I have seen in the 'Vikings' TV series that they got close to right. |

The shieldmaidens (she's the first of many) are made (with my concept) to be historical, for use with dark age gaming. So far they all have skirts as it's the most common attire I've found through my reading, but then it is difficult as many records (and tales!) contradict each other. I guess I'm going for a mix of "women of the village who've took up arms" and hardened cross dressers – I've been reading about women disguising themselves as men to fight in various parts of history. The difficulty with the latter is still making them noticable at 28mm as women, but I would be interested in doodling some with the trousers. Some accounts say trousers and hair cutting were an absolute no no, but I like the idea of a short haired, trouser wearing "secret woman" as such. She'll be out on the 25th May, but I've left a nice amount of time, as I hope to have the second model available by then as well, to save paying postage twice – if you pre order you can add the second afterwards for no additional postage of course.
