Hi All I've just purchased another of the great games of Command and Colours "Samurai Battles " . Like most games I will be using one of my hex mats to play the game with my collection of figures. I've assembled a few of the plastic 1/72 game pieces and found them to be very well detailed but also very fragile . I was wondering of anyone has used the WF Samurai figures instead ? or if you have purchased and used the WF Samurai figures line how robust you have found the figures to be . I am especially keen to hear how fragile the longer polearm weapons and sword blades are ? I would be basing them all on small group basing's and have all the fragile bits pointing down or inwards but still would like to know if the weapons pieces are too fragile for regular handling ? thankyou for any replies , cheers Tom |

Sorry, I misspelled "Samurai" in title , cheers Tom |

Having handled both, the WF range is more robust but are also a lot larger (20mm vs 28mm). |

Thanks McWong oh yes , got that . Im thinking of upscaling the game to 28mm . I jut noticed allot of the WF had long polearms and didn't want to replace them with wire weapons if I could avoid it . The 1/72 game pieces in the game set are very fragile even removing them form the sprue thanks for the reply , cheers Tom |

I have LOTS of the WGF Samurai and I also have some Zvezda Samurai. The weapons for the WGF hold up just fine. A little care when cutting them from the sprue but very sturdy. |

the Wargames Factory plastic figs are good and sturdy, I take some samples to shows (as we sell the products), and have dropped the box, and the assembled ones survived OK (bar one spear became detached complete with arm). Now I accept that won't happen if you tread on one, but at least it saved me from hasty repair work (which is easy enough with the hard plastic and the correct glue. Anyway we stock the entire WGF range at a good price, I have yet to pick up a copy of Samurai battles, but it looks interesting and as someone very interested in the period, would be a nice addition to my collection :) and I like the idea of upsizing, I have seen others do that. Kind regards Rob scarabminiatures.com warandconquest.co.uk |

I like the idea actually. Long term plans of mine was doing exactly this for Battlecry, probably be easier to do for Samurai Battles. |

We currently use the 1/72 stuff for Battlecry ACW , we've also made the gridded mat bigger by making our own . The weapons on the various 1/72 ACW sets are very sturdy ,the weapons on the styrene plastic Zvezda Samurai is not as forgiving and I dint want to do two whole armies only to have half the weapons snap off … I have several sets of the softer plastic Zvezda Samurai are ok to use . So I'm in a bit of a dilemma , do I put away all the 1/72 Samurai I already own ,,, or do I replace it all with 28mm plastic , either way I still have to paint two armies |
