…best jammers.

"The U.S. Air Force is winnowing down its fleet of EC-130H Compass Call electronic attack planes.

The 15 high-tech jammers belong to the 55th Electronic Combat Group at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona. But if the flying branch has its way, it will retire seven at the turn of the fiscal year in October, according to the Pentagon's budget request.

They're few in number, but highly important planes. These are same EC-130Hs that twice shut down Saddam Hussein's air defenses, and helped American pilots and troops return home alive from the conflicts in Kosovo, Haiti, Panama, Serbia and more recently Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria…"

Send them to Taiwan, perhaps through a third party, so we don't get chastised again by China, and make sure the media doesn't get wind of it?

I'm sure the Air Force has a great replacement in mind; just strap a pod onto an F-16. That's just as good, right? (end sarcasm)

Major Mike21 Apr 2015 5:09 p.m. PST

No, no, the pod will go on the F-35, so they can then get the critically needed funds to purchase more air frames so that in 10 more years, when the pods are finally developed to function with the air frames, we will finally have our capabilities restored to our 2015 level. Of course, that then means that a new pod will be critically needed to get us up to date to the 2025 level.
Heck, we have just invented a new satire wargame! It will combine the fun of Junta and the trickery of military spending , corporate spying and goofball ideas. Bribe Congress, get a few retired Generals on staff, hire a dirty tricks contractor and subcontract out operations all to earn the fattest bank account. Just beware of changing military requirements, GAO audits, Congressional inquiries or a dreaded critical failure at an all to important demonstration.

They could double their savings if they scrapped all of them.

Might be able to cut a few generals too what way.

You guys have probably seen this video, right?: YouTube link

I knew a guy who worked on the fix for that. The problem was that the water sort of follows the missile up as it is launched, and the spout bends the missile's exhaust cone.

So my friend said "Why don't we put a trash can lid on the base of the missile to protect it?"

His boss's response was "Come on now, how much does a trash can lid cost?" -- meaning, "Surely you can think of a more expensive solution"

I would laugh if this thread wasn't so sad.
