I've narrowed by choice down to these two games. Upon watching a couple videos on WoG, I'm not sure how easy the game can handle 20+ planes on the table at once? I'm playing solo, 20+ planes at once. I really like the card based maneuver decks, but I can't see having 20+ decks on the table at a time. I prefer hexless, but that's not a huge issue for me. Anyone who has played both care to chime in and offer their opinion as to which one lends itself more to what I'm looking for? Thanks |

Blue Sky is much more doable for that many planes. It is hex based and all maneuvers are simply based on a number of hexes moved forward to complete it. Record keeping is minimal and is pretty much limited to damage, although you can also track hexes counted towards a turn/maneuver carry-over by simply placing a small die by the plane. Both are simple games, but I have to agree that 20+ planes could be difficult with having to lay out cards, etc., for the movement. |

Wings Of Glory is a good fun system, but for that size game, no way. 2-3 planes per player is about right for it…. |

Yeah no way that Wing Of Glory can even come close to that number of plane. Anything more than 1/2 a dozen planes a side and you are way out of it's envelope. Even with that number you would need two or three players, who know what they are doing, per side. Now Blue Sky is designed for this size of game and can be easily picked up by new players. Fatman |

Sorry just saw that you play solo. I would still say that Blue Sky is your best bet. Fatman |

Have played Blue Sky (all the different theatre variants, too) and WoG. Got intro'd to Blue Sky in '95, IIRC, at the Origins in Philadelphia and been playing ever since. WoG been playing since WWII version appeared, but not nearly as much as Blue Sky. WoG is cool for 2 or so planes/player. If you're doing solo with a lot of planes, Blue Sky is the way to go. Sundance's suggestion re: die to indicate # of hexes moved is excellent. Damage can be tracked using white, black or red pipe cleaners (called 'fuzzy sticks' at Walmart) bent over wings/tail surfaces or fuselage depending upon type of damage. |

Also have a look at FLAC. Its simple for lots of aircraft in play. It is also fast, fun, and free. Yep, free. You can find the game at: link |
