I have complete the first store for our shopping mall zombie game that we will be running at Historicon this Summer. Check out some of the pictures athttp://bucksurdu.com/blog/?p=3858.

While you're there, check out some the other posts on my blog (www.bucksurdu.com/blog) including some recent articles on some game design ideas.

Very nice.

What rules will be using?

Tactics II in a Games Workshop store?

capncarp21 Apr 2015 6:43 a.m. PST

<Tactics II in a Games Workshop store?>
Yeah, right next to it is a sign: In case of GW radically exclusive, horrifically expensive, makes-your-current – figure/rules-investment-worthless policy change to corporate maximize profits from the mindless KoolAid-swilling open-walleted masses, break glass.

surdu200521 Apr 2015 6:48 a.m. PST

Amalric, I will be using GASLIGHT for the game.

Winston, it's not a Games Workshop store. Take a look at the other pictures on the blog. It is meant to be the kind of general gaming store I remember a as a kid. Then it will get ravaged by zombies. Perhaps thats an allegory for what is happening to brick and mortar hobby stores. :)

I love that most of the minis on the table are unpainted – my only beef is that there is a girl in the store with only 7 dudes – that ratio of girl to guy gamer is WAY off ;)

Stepman321 Apr 2015 7:28 a.m. PST

Can I play? You need any survivors? I have about 100 painted up…

Tactics II in a Games Workshop store?

Not dissimilar from our store; about one third GW sales, big signs up, but old/used/consignment including really strange items. You'll find the odd 3M Bookshelf game on occasion.

Heck, I think there's booklet-sized G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. in there.

I'll admit, though, we've never had Tactics II…

And, we've some players who've brought wives/gf's and have had even better than 7/1 ratios not uncommonly.

Course, our demo table up front is smaller, but we have a separate gaming area that's about half the store's footprint.

I will say, only store room we have has store records. Really, paper…

And, that's a heck of a lot neater than our place!

Thanks, Buck!

I love it. How about adding a D&D poster to the wall? Like others, I assumed it was a Games Workshop store…

surdu200521 Apr 2015 9:30 a.m. PST

There is a D&D poster on the wall. Take all at l the pictures in the blog post.

Looks great! It remembered me of this set of pictures for -perhaps- inspiration:

Cool. I hadn't seen those pictures. Very funny!

The link to the full blog post is here: bucksurdu.com/blog/?p=3858

I see that in my original post, it didn't show up as a link because it ran into the previous word.

That's a scary bunch of people pictured off in the hobby shop doorway of the blog's first photo. Where did you find them?!? Just kidding, looks really good.

Covert Walrus21 Apr 2015 4:20 p.m. PST

That's amazing work! And a lovely little vignette for such a game too :)

War Monkey21 Apr 2015 5:09 p.m. PST

First off, I still have my box set of Tactics II evil grin

And if there was ever a Zombie out break, I guess being in a gaming store with other like minded people couldn't be all bad thumbs up

Yeah, the walls aren't crowded enough, either… ;->=

Of course, this view works a bit better:

Wait. Tunnels and Trolls? REALLY?

Now, the Q-Workshop dice elf poster is down in the necessary room. Safe. Cherished.

Yes, I remain a Tunnels and Trolls zealot. While this is off topic, I always liked the way T&T handled magic and armor.

I tried to put stuff on the shelves that I like. I don't do much GW, but what hobby store doesn't have GW in it these days?

Amalric23 Apr 2015 6:12 p.m. PST

That looks great!

I wish I could play in that game, but will be satisfied with good pics.

Thanks for posting.
