Cheers to all, I have added images and an article on our groups recent Easter Friday's Minden refight with My SYW French & Allied Flat Miniatures Armies. What a mighty clash it was. Have a look at my Blog and enjoy, if you like. Cheers, Christian crogges7ywarmies.blogspot.com |

Beautiful. Beautifully painted flats, like yours, have a charm all their own. |

Quite a difference between the two photos of the battle, the before and after. The photos leading up to that point are grand display of regimental flags which I recognize. Well done. Cheers, Robert |

Flats are not my thing but, that is a great looking game. |

Thanks guys. You are looking at 30 years of collecting & painting. @ Robert, Yes, the French initial deployment shot really is a boasting sort of display of their colours. I love it. Last year, I added 21 more units to the French infantry incl. 5 Saxaons. Most are newly painted, and about 8 have been redone – i.e. converted useless unknown regiments into core troops by redoing facings and painting the flags anew. "Flats are not my thing but, that is a great looking game." Coming from olicana, that's high praise indeed. Crogge, you've probably been asked this 1,000 times, but why use 3D for cannons? They look great, and lend emphasis to the position, but I was just wondering why you chose that route? |

Good question Oberst Radl. I was wondering the same thing because many of the flats collections that I've seen have 3D Cannon. |

@ DAF and Oberst Radl, a straight forward answer to a straight forward question: I guess for all those former and present German diorama builders, it was found that flat guns and vehicles tend to get lost – visually. So, from rather early on, also 3-d models were supplied by a number of foundries. In fact, the range for 3-d models far exceeds that of the flat ones, I believe. |

Crogge1757 Thanks for explaining. Imagining flat cannons in your photos and I see the reason for it. |
