Just thought I'd post some pictures of the latest additions to slide down the slipway; Navwar 1:3000 Warspite and Valiant.

I'm posting not because they are particularly fine examples of the miniature painter's art, but because I'm quite chuffed with how quickly I've improved. On that basis, anyone coming into gaming fresh and feeling disappointed with their initial efforts can take heart – things do improve and using the basic techniques talked about on these message boards yield results.

Okay; they're not the stunning models you'll see elsewhere on these boards, but I'm pleased with them and when steaming to take on the Italians I'm happy with how they look.

As a comparison I've included a shot of HMS Ajax, which I painted just last month.

HMS Valiant – am I the only one in the world who actually LIKES the 'block of flats' bridge on the rebuilt Queen Elizabeths?

And as a comparison, here's one of my earlier efforts. HMS Ajax under fire.

Very nice. I have not met a ship I did not like, but I do like the British block bridges. There was a 15 or so story building in North Dallas, that, when driving eastbound on 635 reminded me very much of British battleship bridges, save the fact that it was green.

I like the upgraded block and secondary.
Nice job.

Nice!

And I have had a fondness for the rebuilt QEs since I picked up herself and a pair of Tribals in 1:1200 40 odd years ago.

I disagree; you have done a very good job with these. I particularly like the toned-down colors you seem to have used for the camouflage scheme.

Best-painted Navwar I've seen in 40 years.

Particularly given the size you've done a quite nice job. I've always thought the block bridges looked powerful and modern. There's room for all kinds, of course, but there's nothing wrong with British ships visually.
