So I was reading the Sport of Kings campaign in the "Warfare in the Age of Reason" rules, and it seems pretty good. I like the map, and the siege rules, but I'm not a fan of the actual rules for the game, especially the Melee rules. I was thinking of trying to use the 'Die Kriegsknust" rules ( I don't have them yet, but I have Guns at Gettysburg and I like them) I was thinking the only thing I would have to do to adopt them is to change the number of figures needed to eliminate a strength point. thoughts? Also, I like Black powder and Maurice (have not played the latter yet) but they don't have figure removal. any thoughts on this? or on running a map based campaign in the first place? this would be my first attempt at it. thanks Joe PS: I was thinking I would use the same strength point system, and the same army generation system, as Warfare in the Age of Reason |

We used Volley and Bayonet. Worked out pretty good. |

I have had the same thought – I have been playing with the idea of using Black Powder, which might be a bit of a stretch |

Fredrick- I was kinda thinking the same. the only thought I had was that units that break off the table are removed strength points and a die roll for units with 2 or c casualties to either be removed, no effect, or to come back as a small unit, counting as a half strength point. one ep can upgrade 2 half sp.'s to full. the obvious downside to this being having to keep track of half sp.'s… |

Just have a SP equal to the standard number of figures in an infantry battalion in your preferred rules. For example, I use 30 figure infantry regiments so one SP equals 30 infantry instead of the 12 used in Sport of Kings. The same works for converting cavalry and artillery from your rules to SoK. |

So many of us (myself included) try to make things so complicated. Let's keep it simple folks. Der Alte Fritz's answer is the most obvious and logical. |

"So many of us (myself included) try to make things so complicated. Let's keep it simple folks. Der Alte Fritz's answer is the most obvious and logical." this is very true, and is probably the way to go if i use Die Kriegsknust (sp?) the only issue being if the set being used does not have figure removal. ~Joe |
