Here is a quick look at the NEW "La Haye Sainte" 6x4' mat by Cigar Box.

Must be me, but I cannot see the LHS connection. OK, there is a road with a green patch beside it. But that is it…….

The building added looks more like the granary from Essling.

This could be more use to wargamers than their Waterloo version, as more easily adapted….but only because it now lacks any detail whatsoever.

Well, I could not identify the lateral road that produced the crossroads and the road that ran past La Haye Sainte was the pave which was paved with cobbles and had a sandy verge on either side. Also, the position of the sand pit looks odd. Finally, if I was advertising this I would have tried to use a model of the farm to demonstrate it rather than the granary from Essling. All in all a shame as I have other mats and they are excellent.

Mr Box,

Beware of putting defensive features too close to the table side, a scenario killer I learned to watch out for. Here that crest is too close ( again) reducing the usefulness of this mat… Unless you do another one that fits behind.

Ditto to most of comments above. This is a nice mat but is it la haye sainte?

Why not sell as generic battle field, with road and green square as attachment to cut out or not included.

I would buy a generic battle field, especially to cut up into DBA squares.

Sorry guys. When I first saw these I was excited. But the more I look at them the more I wish they were more "photo-realistic" – the trees, roads etc look like wargmers' versions, and I guess I want something that more closely resembles Google Earth. The trees etc look like kids drawings rather than an aerial view of woodland etc

This particular mat – I just don't see why someone would buy it – a mat with a road in the middle. Why not just use a grass mat and add your own roads?

Sorry, just MHO, YMMV

Bobgnar, they sell a DBA mat with attached terrain pieces you can cut out.
