Looks like someone has been reading my posts, and has taken action:

I saw a tech promo for the switchblade a few years ago. It looked very impressive and down right deadly.

I thought it was an awesome idea for a new mortar round when it first made its TV appearance some years ago. Hunter rounds. Tech like this will make war a very one sided thing for the side that has it.

Isn't a Kamikaze drone a euphemism for guided missile?

Mako1118 Apr 2015 6:36 p.m. PST

Not when it's a drone too, apparently.

More like "Artillery At Your Fingertips" sort of weapon…a suspended mortar round constellation eh?

Klebert L Hall18 Apr 2015 8:58 p.m. PST

A "kamikaze drone" is what we call a "guided missile".
Nothing new here.

Suspended Mortar barrage… that a scary thought.

However, it's probably 100x more expensive than a conventional mortar barrage. And this is where the logic of cost+5% becomes obvious on the contractor side.

Loitering Munitions,

Tally Ho!

Wait 'til you see the swarm attack missiles.

Those are truly scary, at least to the bad guys.

The Switchblade recon/killer unit is only $1,000 USD per round, that's the same price as an AT4 rocket. Pretty cheap for what it does. Sure, the controller is more, but the Switchblade unit itself is priced just like any other disposable weapon.

Between a couple Switchblades and some 40mm recon rounds, Fog of War is going to be greatly reduced.
