So i like the period, my problem is in 28mm, it looks wrong with 12-18 pikes, dosnt look right, looks more like GNW sweeds. So i want big blocks. 50 pike and 50 shott sleaves on each side. But who makes the best 10mm, i seem to only find ECW and a few pendraken 30yw. |

Well by the second half of the war units did indeed look pretty much like GNW Swedes in terms of the pike to shot ratio (1:2) and at times it got even lower, in 1641 it was 1:5 in the Imperial army. Rven before that the actual ration of pike to shot was a lot more in favour of the shot than regulations and paintings would have you believe. link While the Duke of Holstein's regiment probably was a bit of an exception it was difficult even for well discipline armies to mantain a higher ratio than 1:2, you would get a few units wich reach 2:3 but then you would have units which could not even reach 1:2. Hence the large numbers of commanded shot deployed indepently in both armies at Breitenfeld for example. |

I sold this collection a number of years ago. Mix of Old Glory and Pendraken figures. Like Daniel says, troop strength and ratios changed constantly, so it is difficult to reflect with large, single base units. You have to keep track of that data separately. But the early tercios with 96 pikes on a single stand do look good en masse. link |

Irregular Miniatures and Minifigs have 17th century lines too, though I think the Penderakens are better, and certainly sturdier. |

Don't be too quick to dismiss ECW figures. Many are indistinguishable from their TYW counterparts, and in 10mm the noticeable differences are minimal. Thankfully, many can be "adjusted" with nothing more than paint; knife-and-file conversions on large units of 10mm figures can get tedious (speaking from experience). This TYW collection was done entirely with Old Glory ECW figures:

As i said with 50 pike and 100 shott its a nice generic 2:1. my problem is i need swedes, with longer coasts. |

Have a look at this thread, it has Sigur's very impressive TYW collection, seems to be a mix of various figures, mostly Pendraken and Old glory. The Old glory figures' pikes almost certainly are separate, judging from their straightness and thinness. link Gallery here; link

OG does not come with pikes. You have to drill out the hand with a pin vice and use piano wire cut to length. Note the OG also comes in strips of 5 figures on thick bases. You can cut them separate with difficulty. |
