Hello, I am a member of the Schenectady Wargaming Association and an avid Bolt Action player. For those of you who don't know the Schenectady Wargaming Association is a long running club based out of Schenectady that not only has been running a yearly convention in October, The Council of Five Nations, for over thirty years, but also runs monthly one day mini-conventions called Gameathons. These Gameathons are held (usually) on the second Saturday of the month at Proctors theater in downtown Schenectady. There is a nominal fee for the event to cover expenses, $6 USD for all day or $4 USD for one session if you're playing in one of the many boardgames (or Pathfinder) that run only one slot, Students get in for free. I know some people will balk and having to pay to play a game, but the SWA is a non-profit organization that runs on a shoestring budget and six dollars for 11 hours of gaming is way less than a movie these days. What will you be getting for those six dollars? Three games in one day without having to drive hours to a convention. I've listened to a lot of podcasts and read a lot of posts where people say the best part about a tournament game is having three (or five) guaranteed games. The SWA has plenty of free space and more tables than they know what to do with during Gameathons. We easily have enough space for six or seven games to be going on at once, although terrain would be an issue at that size. The SWA has also has a thriving community of board gamers, with two sessions at every gameathon with an average of four board games a session for those who are interested (but come for Bolt Action first!). For more information about the SWA visit swa-gaming.org and the schedule of Gameathons at swa-gaming.org/gameathons I can be reached at nate at whitchurchphotography dot com . Please let me know if you are planning on coming so I can make sure I bring enough terrain for the boards. There is also a Bolt Action of Albany facebook group that a number of us locals belong to.

SWA is a great club.

I have run games at their Council of Five Nations convention for years. I hope to run another game there this October. For details on the convention, please go to the SWA web page listed above.

Hope to see you there.
