I'm planning on having a go at producing some terrain for 20mm Vietnam. What would be the tallest (and smallest) model trees you guys would recommend? Thanks. |

My triple canopy stands about 20" tall. My trees vary in height from 3" to 15" It drives me bonkers in skirmish scale games to see all trees reduced to mere saplings. You might use shorter trees where you expect all the action to be but tall trees really add a lot to the look of a game. |

I don't know Vietnam, but it always surprises me to look at the trees around town, or up in the mountains, and realize that they naturally all end up around the same height. |

Trees should be taller, but too tall means players will keep knocking them over. So practicality may outweigh reality in this case. |

My tallest tree is 12" (aka roughly 60 feet) and I use a few more are on 8" bases. I fill in with lots of shorter trees in the 2" to 4" range (10 to 20 feet). Having spent lots of time in the woods in the southern US, central America, and Mideast (think Oasis), I think this is a good compromise between soaring 150 foot pines (which would be 30" tall) and gaming disruption from falling timber. Here is my Vietnam stuff: link

Trees must be fairly short in order to not impede gaming. I can reach in between giant flora, but most other gamers simply knock them over and break things, etc. Appearance must take a back seat to utility when regarding the vertical in modeling…. |

A 4" tree works well for 15mm-25mm. I just bought some recently and had them out on the game table a couple of weeks ago. Looks great with my 15mm Napoleonics. My son and I played a fantasy game recently too. Looked fine there. Anything from 4-5" should be fine. Taller trees tend to get knocked over from reaching players. |

I hit my head all the time on low doorways, esp. in older buildings in Europe. So I wish I were shorter than 6' 2" , this is too tall. Or is this subject about something else? |
