I am looking for thoughts and opinions from people (other than the author) who have read and/or played the rule set Light Bob's. The author has been very informative and seemingly forthright about his rules which I appreciate but I want to get more feedback from people who aren't directly connected to the rules. I am intrigued by the scale of the rules but before I purchase another set of rules I'd like more input from others. I have read most of the threads that I've seen on TMP I have found a significant review of the rules from anyone other than the author. Please chime in with your thoughts in the rules; pros cons everything. Thanks

The rules have only recently been published. Those who have had an opportunity to help with playtesting, or perhaps caught a recent game at Cold Wars or Havoc, might be able to comment. Yet the rest who've purchased the rules might still be learning them, which might not make it as easy to provide immediate commentary.

Basically this is intended to be an AWI game for battalion sized fighting, with opposing commanders leading 4 to 6 units/companies. Figures needed for two sides are minimal, 4 to 12 indivdiually based figures per unit, which makes it easy for someone starting to not need many miniatures. This makes it an excellent set for 40mm, or even 54mm, yet at the same time folks could easily use 25/28mm as well. It is designed for quick play, 2 to 4 hours. A gamer can set up historical situations or be used for hypothetical scenarios, including imagi-nations. There is a personality system for the commanders, and there are some command and battle line concepts that are similar to the "Day of Battle: Medieval Warfare" rules, and this helps distinguish them from other systems. If a person has experience with the Saga rules, there is a bit of such small unit flavor here, although the other aspects of the game out weigh such similarity. A deck of regular playing cards is a must for use with "Light Bobs".

Thanks GamesPoet for your response but has anybody actually played these rules that can give me their impressions? Perhaps at least read them?

The author does a very nice job giving his descriptions of the rules but I'd like to get a completely unbiased impression before I buy. So any additional comments would be appreciated.

Dear Private Matter

So far out of respect I have not chimed in here. Games Poet has played a few games and does own a set.

Let me make an offer to anybody within the CONUS that is interested in my rules but hesitant to spend $20 USD plus shipping on them. If you buy a copy and if within 7 days decide you they were a waste of your money you can return them for a full refund including shipping.

Naturally they must be in a resealable condition.

Anybody interested can PM me here.

Ah crap, greenknight4; you're really making it difficult to not purchase these rules.

Thank you sir and the offer holds to anybody else that's on the fence :)

I've been traveling for work so I'm late in updating this thread. I have purchased the rules and have read through them once. I want to read through them again and will then write up a review of my impressions after reading them. I will say that greenknight4 is a gentleman to deal with.
