Brigade Models like others, will benefit from the Salute, to release a lot of new references…

Oh dear, I like those a lot. I'm a recovering 6mm scifi fanatic and have been clean for 3 years, but those might just coax me off the wagon.

Just a platoon each wouldn't hurt, right?

Mad Mecha Guy15 Apr 2015 2:19 p.m. PST

You start with 'only' a platoon, then the need for a division or two comes along!!!

Do look good, if have the free cash might get some at Salute (must get those new spaceships).

Wow Very Nice !!!!! Thanks for the intel !

That's exactly the slippery slope I'm worried about Mad Mecha Guy!

Maybe a company each, just to get it out of my system ;)

All I do is 6mm Sci-fi[now] and it's easy to get a platoon or two. My 6mm sci-fi forces are made up of many different modeling sources. A Platoon here and platoon there, you have a Battalion or Regiment/Brigade before you know it !

Pattus Magnus16 Apr 2015 10:29 a.m. PST

Hmmm, maybe a couple of platoons of Shamans, a platoon of Soheis for some heavy cruch-power, and a platoon of MICVs to hold the ground (I have the dismounts already, they just need paint, like most of the collection). Paint them and go from there…

Those bottom turrets look suspiciously like the M60A2…

optional field,

You're correct about the similarity – I'm pretty sure that's intentional. My understanding is that the several of the vehicles in the "mercenaries" line are inspired by historical tanks the digital designer took a shine to (for example, the "Shaman" is inspired by the WW2 Sherman). I initially didn't realize they drew on historical tanks (I just thought, "Shaman, curious name for a tank…") but once someone referred to it on another thread it clicked.

Personally, I like their vibe, but tastes will vary.

I noticed that myself … however I'm sure the sci-fi model will be more effective than the RW M60A2 … evil grin

Failure1617 Apr 2015 12:58 p.m. PST

Actually, the Shaman is directly descended (visually at least) from the M551 Sheridan. One of its variants is an M56 Ontosalike (named, unpredictably, the Ontos).

I am ashamed I didn't post about them here when I first saw them on the Brigade Models website last week, but am glad Tango did. The whole line is great looking visually, but the Sohei is truly a beauty.

Looking back, I must say that I once saw a (1/48th scale?) conversion of a M60A2 into a Hammer's Regiment blower tank. It was a thing of beauty, too, and even if the Sohei is not a direct outgrowth of that concept I approve of it that much the more.

Pattus Magnus17 Apr 2015 1:45 p.m. PST

Failure16,

My mistake about the Shaman's origins. I see what you mean about the Shaman's derivation from the Sheridan, that's a good fit. It was the angled glacis that reminded me of the Sherman! In any case, they are some very business-like looking tanks, and you're right, the Sohei would make a great alternative "blower".

Now to justify (to myself) buying some when they're released (despite haveing a large stock of unpainted 6mm sci-fi)…

Old Crow makes 6mm Slammer AFVs, just FYI … And This is my Slammer TF, using Old Crow AFVs and GZG Infantry …

Hey, Pattus Magnus, no worries. My unpainted pile is finally starting to edge out my painted pile…but as long as Brigade keeps pushing out the great models, I suppose I'll keep procuring them.

Oh, and I always love that picture, L4. It makes me wish I didn't have to jump through relative hoops to get [more of] Jez's models.

Grimmnar17 Apr 2015 9:26 p.m. PST

I likes em in both scales.
The Starship pattern turrets really just fit in. Who knew. :-)
