…is it possible in terms of vehicle and figure availability, and which of those scale would you choose? I'm reasonably aware of what would be doable in 1/35 or 1/285, because one sees the kits and the minis. I have very little idea of what's out there in some in-between scale especially as (I guess) a lot of the kit would be sold / advertised as something else (eg does anyone do a 1/72 Super Sherman? – cuz if not you'd presumably be modifying standard WW2 Shermans to represent them). Grateful for any pointers. |

I recall an article in Airfix Magazine in the very dim and distant past abut doing the AiW. Using those Airfix stalwarts the M3 halftrack, T34/85, IS-III and Centurian, naturally. I can't remember what they used for infantry, British Combat Group painted different colours iirc. My AiW stuff is all 1/300th otherwise I'm afraid. |

There is a large and growing selection of 15mm (1/100) miniatures out there as well |

I'd go 1/72 but to be honest, I freely combine 1/72 and1/76 on the table, just not the same vehicle. |

Platoon 20; Liberation; Elhiem and Combat Miniatures all do AIW ranges although the Israelis from the latter two are mostly armed with Galils so are slightly less useful. For vehicles try looking at diecasts on ebay or as mentioned above Airfix and the old Esci kits can be used. It can be done, I did it, but takes a little work and ingenuity. However isn't that half the fun of a wargames project? ;-P Fatman |

Oh and like Rich Bliss I mix both scales in my 20mm force. Although again like Rich I never mix different scales of the same vehicle. Fatman |

Yes it is totally doable in 1/72. Thought about 15mm, but it was just too small for the platoon/company level actions we were looking for. This is one of the available Super Shermies: link |

Not sure what is available, but 10mm is a cool scale as well. |

As mentioned, 1/100th is a very good choice of scale as well (especially better for ground scale of the weapons), with lots of manufacturers to provide the armor and troops. 1/144th and 1/150th are good as well, though perhaps with a bit less selection in the way of options now, though Pendraken is working on expanding their existing Cold War lineup. |

Thanks all. I have a hankering for some 1/7x plastic is the thing. Used to do WW2 in that scale, but today I am mostly in the 1/32 camp for that, hence the interest in AIW as a possible outlet. Korean was a possibility due to tank model availability but IIRC there weren't a lot of tank-on-tank actions. |

I'm just finishing my Arab / Israei troops in 28mm. I almost went with 1/72, or 20mm, but already had desert buildings in 28mm. There are lots of vehicles out there in 20mm range, just look around. If you decide to go with 15mm, I have loads of painted figures and Israeli vehicles for sale. |
