Hello – having just re-reread "First Clash" after many years, I find myself interested in whether anyone on these boards has ever found a copy of his subsequent book, "Counterstroke." (Ottawa: DND Publication B-GL-309-007/FT-001, 1989/90) – as I understand it this was only released as a Canadian army training aide but, having come across similar – subsequently declassified – publications from the US military I didn't know if any copies had "made it out" Thanks |

Always thought it was called 'Counterstrike'. Only came out as a service PAM publication that I know. I have a copy buried deep in my basement somewhere. Not as good a read as 'First Strike' though. Leaves the personal stuff behind and plays the fantasy of a divisional level counter attack based on the organization that the Canadian Army fantasized on having in the mid to late eighties. |

Thanks everyone for your responses and descriptions. bhall389 and troopwo: I'd be happy to temporarily exchange anything from my own research library as collateral in exchange for a loan of your copy – I'm in Washington state. |

I've got a copy somewhee. It isn't near as good as First Clash. What made First Clash good was it actually used the understrength 4 CMBG. This one IIRC used one of those theoretical organizations (Corps 2000) dreamed up by NDHQthat never got off the drawing board and all sorts of nice to have kit Lion MBTs (Leo 2A4?) and a full strength Canadian Div in CENTAG (5 PPCLI? is one of the BGs in the book IIRC) |
