1/1200 naval. Do any of you lovely lot know the companies who provide for this area of gaming please. I played a great game of it the other day and im interested in getting into it. |

Can you convert that to mm for me? |
forwardmarchstudios | 14 Apr 2015 10:16 a.m. PST |
1/1200 is mostly used for nautical games I believe. 1/600 is 3mm, so 1200 would be 1.5mm. Maybe they meant 2mm? |

Fred, please bear with us. You played the game, we did not. Did the game involve ships or was it a land battle? |
fred2184 | 14 Apr 2015 10:27 a.m. PST |
Ahhh doh. I get ya. Sorry a major mishap there. It was naval. Wow. What a douche I am |
olicana | 14 Apr 2015 10:32 a.m. PST |
Langton do the best: link Skytrex also made them once upon a time. |
ColCampbell | 14 Apr 2015 10:35 a.m. PST |
Fred, Easily understood by me when you wrote 1/1200 naval. Besides Langton that Olicana mentioned, there is also Navwar and Magister Militum (carries GHQ micronauts). You can find there addresses in the TMP Manufacturers Directory. Jim |

I didn't read that. That'll teach me to read not scan. Regards, James |

Fred, I read the instructions thoroughly…..you said "1/1200 naval"…..doesn't that mean "naval"….? Langton and GHQ are, IMHO, the best rodlangton.com ghqmodels.com You can also do "Sails of Glory", if you want ready painted ships: link |
fred2184 | 14 Apr 2015 10:58 a.m. PST |
So it looks like GHQ or Langton. No disrespect to sails of glory but im really not a fan of there ships.. Especially the prices of each one. |
Dave Jackson | 14 Apr 2015 11:25 a.m. PST |
Fair enough. I have none of them, but was an option for those who really don't want to bother with construction and painting…or basing for that matter! |
Dave Jackson | 14 Apr 2015 11:27 a.m. PST |
NAVWAR do some too, they're adequate, but I find them a bit rough, especially when compared to Langton/GHQ link |

Ahhh doh. I get ya. Sorry a major mishap there. It was naval. Wow. What a douche I am Unfortunately the plethora of boards make this sort of thing all too common. You perhaps should have posted to the "Age of Sail" board … |

Navwar are the ones who want you to entrust royalmail with all ya bank details in an envelope. As im after russian ships I believe langton seem to be the way to go. |

Cheers for headsup MajorB. Good for future reference. |

GHQ are beautifully cast (much better than Langton) and they sit better than the Langton models that are really 'heroic' 1/1200. However, the GHQ masts are cast with the sails and although this makes them easier to assemble they have an unsightly web between the mast and the sails. If you rig the models this can be partly hidden. Some go for Langton masts and sails on GHQ hulls. I'd recommend that you buy a GHQ model and a Langton model then decide which you prefer. They can be used together but look a bit odd unless you either file the Langtons down to sit better or add a bit of plastic card to the GHQ to raise them up. Depending on which basing you prefer will help determine which brand you prefer. If you like flat clear plastic/perspex then GHQ are your best bet. If you like to build up a sea scape with waves then you can use the waves to mitigate for the hull riding too high in the water and Langton are probably better. It's well worth going through the Napoleonic naval board here. You'll find some beautiful models and a good discussion about Langton and GHQ. |

Of note, the Sails of Glory ships are not 1/1200. |

'Navwar are the ones who want you to entrust royalmail with all ya bank details in an envelope.' As opposed to trusting your details to the internet? The vast majority of card fraud happens when someone at the target destination miss uses the data not from 'interception' L |

I only try and use paypal. That seems alot more safer to me than putting all my card details and security code onto a sheet of paper and just hoping it makes its destination. But like I said I think either langton or GHQ get my attention. Thanks to the positive replies people. |

Red Eagle Miniatures took over the 1/1200 Skytrex range of Napoleonic ships. Check them out here: link |

If you're in the US, make sure you watch your exchange rates. You can get Langton minis for GHQ prices when the pound is weak (~$1.55 to the GBP or so, IIRC) I'm planning on Langton for the most part, going to do the entire USN Atlantic Fleet for War of 1812 eventually. I'm just starting out with fun, small stuff like Chesapeake v Shannon and the capture of the President. |
