Are you satisfied with the products that are on the market today to support your interest in miniature gaming? What about prices for those products? (a) I am satisfied with what is on the market today. Just about anything I want is available at an affordable price.
(b) I am satisfied with what is on the market today, but I would like to see more affordable prices. (c) I am satisfied with prices, but there are products that I'd like to purchase that are not available (please specify what you would like to see). (d) I am not satisfied with what is on the market today, and prices are also too high for products that are available. |

(b) I with the prices would come down, but there is really more to choose from than ever before. Heck, even 20mm is having something of a rennisance! |

C -- I am satisfied with prices but what is available to purchase I could wish for more and more variety. Me and H.G. Wells. in 1911 in FLOOR GAMES H.G. Wells was complaining that the model figure makers of the day did not make more civilians, non combattants and pieces for dioramas. He complained that even our greengrocers have pith helmets and epaulettes. Not much has changed. I would like a set of civilian tradesmen and occupations, of milkmaids and butlers and the like. I'd like a full 60 figure set of Maria Theresa at a review on horse back with lackey's and courtiers and servants, and tables groaning with delectable as you saw in Amadeus. I'd like to see soldiers in restrained poses like at rest, or at ease. I'd especially like to see female figures NOT with udders that would make a Guernsey Cow jealous and with huge weapons. My goodness! Even bathing beauties seem to carry BAR'S. I guess gamers can't imagine any human interaction that does not require creative dismemberment or a Class 1 felony. How bout a setoff figures of Lord Hay and Sarah on that last doomed waltz the night of Waterloo. How about a set of figures of a scene of a woman going to market. How about a set of figures depicting nursey rhymes and fairy tales. How about figures that don't look like the models were 300lbs and recruited from the Dystlefynk room. HOWEVER! That's me. I realize that any manufacturer and dealer would sell about a dozen figures of each through the life of the model. |

(e) I am satisfied with what is on the market today. Just about anything I want is available at a reasonable price The fact that a particular mini that I have interest in is priced not to be affordable to me (based on my own internal value system) does not mean it isn't reasonable. I have a good flow of minis in and minis completed (thought I am clearing a glut right now). I don't feel buyer's remorse and I have a good time eviscerating them and doing what passes for painting by my standard. I am also heavily medicated. |

aa – Very difficult to ask for more choice! Not only for figures but also for scenery and accessories (bases flock etc.) Maybe the prices are a bit high but a right profit is a good incentive to keep up on this way! M |

b I looked at some GW figures today – WH40K 1 foot figure – £16.00 GBP I continue to think GW have the right to sell for whatever they can get – but £16.00 GBP for 1 figure seems to be pushing it just a teeny-weeny bit. And not even metal. |

I would like the wide range of flats sold in Germany to be accessible more easily (in the way most round figures are) … I hope to make it to Kulmbach again this year (but it is annoying to have your best access to the figures come round just once every two years) … I would like it if all the plastics on PSR were actually available … etc. etc. Phil |

(a) I am satisfied with what is on the market today. Just about anything I want is available at an affordable price. MB: In very rare instances, if I was still into 25+mm figures this would apply. Supers and some 20th century skirmish gaming in particular. (b) I am satisfied with what is on the market today, but I would like to see more affordable prices. MB: If I was into larger figures (say 25+mm) I think this would apply in many, possibly most, cases of figures that interest me. I cannot justify building armies at today's prices for larger sized figures. (c) I am satisfied with prices, but there are products that I'd like to purchase that are not available (please specify what you would like to see). MB: There are many aspects of 15/18mm war game figures I want that are simply, to my knowledge, not available – Soldados de Cuera, 1600s-1700s Southwest Indians without firearms with/without melee weapons, generic "Mission Indians" and Priests, Presidials, Heck Zorro even, Wild animals for Africa, North/South America, and Asia. (d) I am not satisfied with what is on the market today, and prices are also too high for products that are available. MB: In some cases, with larger figures, this is a factor that helped propel me into 3mm Horse and Musket armies. |

"Wild animals for Africa, North/South America, and Asia." I tend to use kids toys for that sort of thing. In the main, there is more stuff to buy out there than I ever would have imagined, and I am particularly pleased that BFs price inflated 15mm vehicles are now so easily undercut by other, much better, manufacturers. I am sad that my local wargames shop no longer stocks H&R though. I clearly neverbougt enough of it. |

D. = Nyet! There are no 1/100th scale M114A1E1s for the Cold War, American, US Armored Cav units produced by anyone. Also, in 1/144th scale, none of the following: 1. West German Marder 1 – early to mid Cold War model, with/without Milan launcher, and the proper hatch layout for the troops. Arrowhead makes a late model one, but I think that one was only fielded at the end/after the end of the Cold War; 2. no Spz 11-2 recon vehicles, or variants; 3. no HS-30 IFV, or variants with 106mm recoilless rifles, 81mm mortars, or 120mm mortars; 4. no Jagdpanzer Kanones in this scale; 5. no early Jagdpanzer Raketes with SS-11 (for either the HS-30 or Marder hulls), or HOT missiles for the Marder hull; 6. no American M-151 jeeps with machine guns, mortars, recoilless rifles, SS-11 missiles, or TOW launchers; 7. no American M-59 or M-75 APCs; 8. no BO-105 helos with A/T missiles; 9. no FV-438 Swingfire; 10. no proper West German infantry;, etc. I could go on, but you get the idea. |

I always saw the marketplace as a bit of a flea market. Sometimes I see stuff I have to have, sometimes I don't. I don't go to a flea market asking, "Will I be satisfied with the offerings?' Instead I just see what offerings there are and sometimes I am satisfied and sometimes not. That's the nature of flea markets. Is the market supposed to satisfy me on any given day? If that is the criteria, I will always be disappointed. |

Seriously, are we talking "The Market" of all miniatures manufacturing, TMP's market, or something else entirely? I assumed the first case. |
Tgerritsen | 14 Apr 2015 3:06 p.m. PST |
Oh, sorry, I thought it meant the TMP Market. If we're talking the whole market, as in everything, I am happy with the offerings out there. It's a bit of a golden age where you can find just about everything. The spots I'd love to see more of are: 1/600 aircraft that are ultra modern or large aircraft in that scale(I can't believe I can get a Eurofighter from two manufacturers, but noone makes an F22, F35 or J20?) I'd also love to see more options for B52s, B1Bs, Bears and the like (E3, J8, JSTARS). I'd like more 28mm Mongols and Eastern European Dark Ages and Middle Ages figures (we have Saxons and Vikings up the wazoo). I'd love to see more giant stompy robots in metal in the Manga style. I see lots of very military style minis (which is the style I usually like, but would love more variation) but not a lot of Gundam or Mazinga style mechs as miniatures. |

Martin Rapier said, " 'Wild animals for Africa, North/South America, and Asia.' I tend to use kids toys for that sort of thing." In 15/18mm? I see larger animals in toy stores everywhere I go! What brands should I be looking for? |
Jeff Ewing | 14 Apr 2015 5:56 p.m. PST |
C. Just in WW2 in 28mm, there are no: 1) Various French vehicles and guns. This seems to improving thanks to Mad Mike and Warlord Games. I sure would like to see motorcycle combos, for example. 2) Hungarian troops. 3) Luftwaffe Field Division troops in fleigerbluse. 4) South Africans for East Africa. I freely concede I am drawn to obscure aspects of WW2. |
DWilliams | 14 Apr 2015 6:27 p.m. PST |
I am in category (c). I do appreciate that there are some great figures offered in the market, but I would like to see expansions of existing ranges offered. There are big holes that need to be filled in what are otherwise very fine offerings from companies like Old Glory 25s/Blue Moon, Eureka, and especially Old Glory 15s. I would definitely like to see more affordable prices for miniatures. This deters me from purchasing more miniatures than I presently buy. I realize that casting miniatures in a high-cost setting like the USA, UK or Australia is going to mean higher prices, so I guess the alternative is to outsource to a cheaper-wage economy like the rest of the world is presently doing. |
Nic Robson | 14 Apr 2015 7:21 p.m. PST |

I'm a cheapskate, but I'd still say A. There are of course some things I would like to see a bit cheaper, but it seems like there for most any subject or genre I'd like to have there are a variety of products at enough price points to meet all budget needs. It's a testament to the growth of the hobby that if you want something like, say a Shipping Container, you can find it at price points from $10 USD-15 each for resin on down for $10 USD-12 (plastic),$7-8 (bones, wood, mdf), $4.50 USD ( Laser cut card when bought in bulk). Though not for all products, the same kind of tiered-availability exists for many products, genres and eras. I might add a smidge of C, but really there would never be a time when I couldn't dream up some awesome-but-obscure product that I'd like to see. Realistically, I feel spoiled for choice in all price brackets. |
