I'm investigating branching out into the Star Trek TNG universe, under the Full Thrust: Project Continuum rules.

I am trying to get my ships as close to the proper scaled size as possible. One problem I have run across is the Klingon Vor'Cha. I am using a 5" Eaglemoss Fed Galaxy Class as my baseline. The Vor'Cha should be 3.5" long to remain consistent.

Furuta sells a nice Vor'Cha, but it's 4.5" long. There's also the Micro Machine at 2.5", or the Star Trek Attack Wing at about the same size.

I can't locate any other makers of Vor'Chas. Anyone know of any that I may have missed?

I can live with a 4.5" Vor'Cha, since my K'Tingas are probably going to be Starline 2500 Klingon D7s (3" long), and it just seems wrong to have a Vor'Cha smaller than the K'tinga (I could have used a Starline 2500 D5 @ 2.5" long, but that doesn't help any).

Suggestions? Or should I just plan to accept the 4.5" ship?

Well, I looked long and hard and since I wanted several I had to find em at a reasonable price too. I went with Furuta.

When I played, I wanted to go Fleet Scale so this meant using Micromachine's Vorchas (repainted) and we used Yamato Romando's K'Tingas (and BOPs) to go with them.

The Attack Wing miniatures are pretty poor quality. The Micro Machine ones are better, but as you said they're out of scale for what you're doing. They're perfectly in scale with 1/7000 however.

For Star Trek I've gone with 1/7000 scale, as it's the easiest to build around. For the Galaxy class I used the Furuta models. The quality isn't as good as Eaglemoss, but it's easier to stay in scale with them.

If you chose to go 1/7000, I can give you a list of ships that work for that scale, to include Federation, Cardassian, Klingon, Romulan, and Jem Hedar.

Also saw your post on the Full Thrust FB page about designing Federation ships. I've got a few ideas based on what I came up with if you're interested in me emailing them to you.

It seems tragic to me that those who license such fine properties do not make the slightest effort to defend scale. One-offs I get. In my world "where two or more ships gather" all ships should all be of the same scale. We seem to be able to do it for WW1/WW2 and modern naval games. How often the need to make a buck on everything messes up the works is astounding.

If the majority believe they can suspend scale realities for some perceived playability myth I prefer to stand with the minority. In my opinion if an element in scale is too small to be seen it's presence should be abstracted away or the game scale rethought. A game of fleas vs. an elephant makes as much sense as X-Wings vs. the Death Star.

I call shenanigans!

I'm not going for a particular scale, more of relative sizes.

I chose the 5" Eaglemoss Galaxy as the baseline, and using it's size in meters, figured out what the other ships ought to be length-wise.

I've found some decent matches, but it's taken some work.

I haven't seen some of the Attack Wing minis in person (I hope to hit the store today) like the Bird of Prey (which I would call a K'vort ). I know the Attack Wing Vor'Cha is not painted well in addition to being too small.

A whole lot of mixing and matching is going to have to happen, that's for sure. :(

Smoltz, would you post your ideas in the Facebook page Files are so we can take a look at them?

I don't post of the FB page. I'm one of the ones who campaigned for it to be a private group. I'm friends with a lot of work associates on FB, some of whom are subordinates, and I'd like to keep this aspect of my life private from them.

Anyway, I'll send you a friend request and we can exchange ideas via PMs. If you'd like you can post them on the files section.

Smoltz, that is fair enough. :)
