I threw my friend in with the wolves. Moments after teaching him how the game works, we played a full sized game. He was hooked, but could he command his fleet to victory? Read on to see! Link: link

Looks like a great game! Question: if the star destroyer that was killed was NOT the Rebel's objective, then why did they disengage? Seems like their fleet was pretty much intact and ought to have been able to finish off the last star destroyer. |

Great question! At its core, Armada is still about blowing up more stuff than you lose points wise. There are 12 different objective cards, all of which do something interesting from a mechanics perspective, and most of which add in some significant way to the points you've scored. Some, for example, give victory point tokens which are worth X points. This scenario does two things: 1) It gives the "objective" ships a minor bonus (I actually forget exactly what that is off the top of my head) 2) It makes objective ships (just the ship- none of the upgrades) count 50% more for points. So at the end of this game, the Rebels had wiped out all of the TIEs AND a Star Destroyer for the loss of 1 X-Wing. At the end of Turn 6, they were still WAY ahead on points, which is the single most determinant factor in winning or losing. |

Nice game and report. I enjoyed my 300pt game last week. |

It looks great! How did you make the ship damage? Is that made out of cotton or yarn? |

It looks like that bizarre stuff that Battlefront sells. Which looks absolutely awful on a burning tank, but looks way cool on a burning starship! :) |

Looks like painted steel wool pulled into shape to me. |

Does indeed, but that's what the stuff the FoW folk use does look like. I think Scott has it. indie: I understood about fun of 'target rich', but with all the large bases and tokens, movement gets a bit fiddly in the crowd, I'm thinking. I'd never argue about the fun. ;->= Doug |
