I have not played Lasalle in a while, but it is a fun game. Easy mechanics and that fire then move bit is great. Your game looked wonderful, the figures are all well done, and I especially like the arty. The flags are excellent too. Nice post! |

Lasalle are great rules IMHO |

Hi Lasalle a good set of rules very well written However I do have couple of issues with them namely Cavalry can ride down squares far too frequently IMHO as they only suffer 1 Disrp if they fail but any doubling of hits destroys the Inf. Inf in any other formation are just speed bumps to any Cav Also Inf Attack Column seem too powerful especially if you can (easy to do) get 2 Columns vs 1 line as the Line halves its dice and again is destroyed if doubled and can never do enough shooting damage as Column approach to make a difference ie usually only 1 Disrp This makes Attack Column seem like a guided-missile Phalanx type formation. You chaps find these to be an issue ? Cheers |

We've not found cavalry over powered. For attack columns, we say that a column which takes disruption from musketry *must* deploy into line. If doing so makes it overlap friends, then both units take further disruption. This solves the 'phalanx' problem. |

Hi Maybe we are just unlucky but numerous times we have seen a square killed by being outcomes 2 to 1 by Cav which just seems off kilter We have tried several house rules re columns vs line but none very satisfying Will give yours a try |

Hi Sgt Steiner. On the second point, lines don't halve their dice if charged by two columns as far as I can see? Not unless they are attacked in flank or rear. Attackers charging multiple defenders do, but defenders do not. page 57. We did this wrong in the first game we played which made a big difference and led to the problem you describe. Haven't tried enough of the squares vs Cav myself to decide either way on that one. Would be easy to mod further if you prefer more resilient squares though. |

Two columns hitting a line are still rolling the same number of dice as the line when firing, and twice as many dice in melee. Real columns deployed some way apart so they would have room to deploy into line if they got into a firefight – hence our house rule (we did something similar for Shako for the same reason). |
