Considering there are many boards for much more obscure topics, should TMP have a board dedicated to the wars in Vietnam/Indochina in the 1950's through 70's? |
Weasel | 10 Apr 2015 11:33 p.m. PST |
Other than my irrational fear and hatred of more boards, I feel it fits pretty well under cold war. (I actually think this is one of the better board suggestions but a principle is a principle :-) ) |

One of my work colleague's father is a Vietnam vet. He told me once that as a long term sufferer of PTS & the subsequent meds he takes, he could kill anyone he wanted & not serve time. He may have been joking but in case not: I am an ENTHUSIASTIC supporter of this new board. |

Excellent idea for this new board. |
Axebreaker | 11 Apr 2015 3:37 a.m. PST |
Yes, I think it deserves it's own. Manufactures are rapidly catching up on the period as has the player base resulting in that it really isn't that niche any longer. Christopher |

I would not contribute to it, which is what a "support" vote means. However I wish it no ill. |

Play it when friends run games but don't (using FB terms) "like" it. Principles, unlike commandments, are more like guidelines – make the board so I can turn it off. |

I will support this if you all can agree to eliminate an unused board first. |

No. "Cold war" covers all the period…. |

It's one of the few board suggestions we've had in a long time that actually makes sense. |
miniMo | 11 Apr 2015 7:52 a.m. PST |
Yes, it's a big enough piece and quite different from the rest of the Cold War. |
axabrax | 11 Apr 2015 8:45 a.m. PST |
Yes. Surprised it hasn't come up earlier. |

A word of caution about a Vietnam board: once you start posting, you might find it difficult to leave the board. You may also win every debate there, but your opponents will exhibit an endless capacity for being beaten. Eventually you'll tire of the whole thing and quit the board. |
Gennorm | 11 Apr 2015 9:51 a.m. PST |
It's usually considered as a period in its own right so it makes sense to have it own board. However it should be called 'Vietnam' as that's a country not just a war. |
Maddaz111 | 11 Apr 2015 10:16 a.m. PST |
Only if we can have British Invasion period, French Indochina, and South Vietnam as separate sub boards.. and of course, Malaya, and Korea as other cold wars that then deserve individual boards.. (otherwise Cold war seems like it covers it very well..) |

Yes but it should also have the 'sixties 'World' for what-ifs. Alternate strategy discussions shouldn't be politicised debate. All that has been done and done again elsewhere over the years. Tactics, weaponry, battles would be what I would like to see. Even the Great M16 debate which I never understood(I was in high school during the War). Just call it 'Nam-it covers all meaning of the period. |

No. I would prefer to see a late-20th Century "Cold War" Board that includes other conflicts from the 1950s-1990s. They were grounded in the Cold War rivalry after all. |
