A great period for miniature wargaming, very colourful clothing.

Nice figures. Are these 15mm? At first glance, your blog doesn't say, nor does (at first glance) the Ral Partha catalog referenced in the Fanaticus thread.

I think those early Citadel historic figures, along with Ral Partha, were some of the best figures ever made. Beautifully posed and in natural proportions. I have Citadel figures in my Wars of Religion armies and a host of Ral Partha landsknechts.

I'm working on Moorish/Berber armies as well at the moment using Hat plastics. You may well find them a good match in height and build to the metal figures you are using. My attempts at painting some of them can be seen here: link . There's a few slingers in the infantry box which might meet your needs if you are prepared to commit the heresy of mixing metal and plastic.

Trebian,

Those are great! At one point I had wondered if they would mix well, and may very well give it a try if they are the harder plastic. What kind of material is Hat using these days? I'm thinking kind of a cross between the hard games Workshop plastic and the rubbery plastic from Hat of old, is that correct?

hinds TMP,

These are true slender proportioned 25mm metal figures. The Citadel figures are a bit more full bodied, but still mix very nicely with the Ral Parthas. They are much smaller than most modern 28s which are more heroically sculpted

A nice looking unit! I had a lot of the Citadel and Ral Partha Arabs; sadly sold, some years back.

Photocrinch: Thanks for the compliment. They're a soft plastic without being rubbery. The key thing is to replace the spears with wire or pins to stop flaking. If you go through the back postings you'll see the work I did replacing the poles on standards as well.

On the plastic side of things I've got Hat figures from a lot of ranges covering the very soft to the almost hard plastic. Once you get used to it the consistency becomes less important. The infantry box for Andalusians (well all the infantry in the El Cid range) has 96 figures for about $15 USD US. Almost a no brainer to check them out.

Thanks Trebian. I may very well do that, though in keeping with the theme of the old school project I'll have to think about if that's the direction I want to go. I may hang loose and see if any Citadel Arabs show up on ebay. I could get what I need piecemeal, but it would be quite expensive to do so – really to expensive to justify it, so I'll practice patience, as hard as that is sometimes.

Thanks again for the response,

David

Any chance you'd be willing to part with a couple of slingers and three of the Andalusian command? If you have extras contact me at David.l.crenshaw@gmail.com

David,

How more old school is it than to use plastic figures that look like they were made by Airfix?

You have a good point there. :)
